People will die regardless, even with the masks and contact tracing. Just like people die during a flu season. Especially the immunocompromised or those with pre-existing conditions. Nothing can really stop that.

A lot more people will die if we don't take these precautions buddy

There are no absolutes here. It's about mitigating risks. Why not do all we can -- within reason -- to reduce the risk to the general public? Masks, testing, contact tracing, and ultimately a vaccine, are all proven public health tools. Let's not be stupid and not use them.

Do you seriously think that when places start opening up & people get a phone call that their server or cashier tested positive & that they need to self quarantine they actually will?

My definition of safe must differ greatly from yours.

Millions will still die if we do, but liberty will be preserved. The cotton masks that most are wearing offer no protection. Please stop with your emotional pleas and think.

Don't hold your breath waiting on a vaccine. No vaccine for a covid has ever been approved.

You do realize you come in contact with positive covid people on a random trip to Walmart?

Contract Tracing would do nothing except scare people.

I disagree, but assuming that your premise is right, what if it is 5 years for a vaccine? It's not like other coronavirus vaccines are all perfect.

It is nearly impossible for 1,000,000 to die in America from this even taking the overinflated death rate as accurate.

Life is too risky for you. I think you would be safer if you just stayed yonder your bed reading your Marx and Chomsky. And the rest of us can resume our risky lives.

If your goal is to open up and just focus care/risk mitigation efforts on those who are infected and/or most vulnerable, then contact tracing should be part of that. Otherwise, how do you know who to focus on?

And I don't understand the argument that contact tracing is unconstitutional. Of course the details will matter, but public health and safety is a well-recognized justification for extraordinary government action.

People die. It's a part of life. We can't stop this virus. It has to die out on it's own. If there is a vaccine, it won't be in time or effective enough (like the flu vaccine isn't effective either).

I don't even know if it's been proven that asymptomatic people are even contagious however, if you don't have a cough or symptoms, then there really isn't any reason to wear a mask. If you have a cough and symptoms, then don't wear a mask, stay your arse at home. More people will die from being sheltered in place than will from being able to move freely.

I think you however should stay inside with gloves and a mask on, not eating anything because coronavirus may be on it. Get back to us in a month and let us know how it's going.
