The only think that does is open up another hole on our team that we would need to fill.

Which you could easily fill with a guy like Zack Moss in the 3rd or 4th and he could likely get you at least the same production Kamara gave last year. Plus you don't have to worry about a contract for your RB for a few years and you can better focus on Ramczyk and Lat, and the Future of the QB position.

The Saints have a few "Key" player that we need to get back to the SB, but Kamara, while a nice piece to have ain't one of them.

I kind of disagree. I think you go all in bc you are are so deep and don’t need a lot of picks. Now I’m not crazy about trading a first next year for a second but I wouldn’t be opposed to being aggressive and going get the guys we want

Unless you are picking in the top half of the first round you not drafting for this year. Your future depends on the draft. losing all those draft picks because of the Bounty BS seriously hurt this team and their chances to go to more than 1 Superbowl. Hell Mickey even said so himself.

Theres a blurb going around twitter where Steelers GM Kevin Colbert is proposing adding 3 rounds to the draft.

Sean Payton's response: "Great idea!! #commonsense"

They will need all the picks they can get when Brees isnt on the roster. No need to continue mortgage the future as we get to the end of this

I'd be thrilled if we were able to land one starter this year. Five picks to work with is tough.

This.

I really don't think people understand how if this isn't handled with precision the Saints could be in the dark ages again for many many years. Then again some people don't seem to care as long as we get to another SB. I'm glad we have smart people in charge making these decisions. (At least I hope they're smart about it.)

This is the kind of thinking that’s nonsense. Kamara played on half a leg and still had over 1300 yards. To say some rookie is gonna come in and replace that or let alone come close to giving us what Kamara gave us his first two years is comical. I’m not saying the saints would be bad without Kamara. But he does way more for our offense than any casual fan realizes. He is the ultimate mismatch on the field. He takes 2 guys with him everywhere he goes and when they don’t he gashes them.

Trade Kamara and Draft CEH in the 2nd = PROFIT

No big contract and a great 3 down back on rookie deal

I hate that I like this idea, but I LOVE CEH. He seems absolutely perfect for the saints offense.

The notion you have to trade up to get a guy bc you’re in “win now” mode and have a loaded roster is stupid

None of these guys were first rd pick. Some are literally the best players at their position in saints history and possible NFL HOFers. Instant contributors

McCoy 48th overall
CGJ 105
Marcus Williams 42
Kamara 67
MT13 47
Bell 61
Onyemata 120
Armstead 75
Stills 144
Graham 95
Nicks 164
Bushrod 125
Harper 43
Evans 108
Streif 210
Colston 252

You would be basically drafting UDFA. Of course they would want more picks but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t just cut them or put them on practice squad. Any thing that allows you to bring in the players you wants and evaluate more talent.

Why? The only position of need will be qb unless we lose more guys. Which we will eventually. I think Payton will give Taysom his shot next year regardless of what we do in the draft. Besides we have been hitting more in the draft with less. It is bc we are aggressive and go get the guys we want instead of waiting for what’s left or trading back for lesser talent.

Because contracts expire, rosters turn over & they’ve been deferring money for years now that will end up putting the team in a bad spot ? Picks will be a premium, especially first round picks with 5th year options

Dark ages is from signing bad free agents and contracts and from missing in the draft. We have been successful lately bc we have been aggressive in getting the guys we want. We do more with less. We used to rarely hit on mid round picks or even early picks.

I’m not saying sell the farm for years to come. Like I’m not trading two firsts down the line or anything but do what you need to get the players you want this year. If we have a few less picks next year so be be it. We don’t need 7 plus picks for next year.

As long as we are not trading up and drafting busts then there is no reason for us to cease packaging picks to move up and grab the guys we want. We have been successful in doing so

This 2020 version of the Saints is deep. Are they that thirsty for another immediate impact player?

At some point the future needs to become of concern too. If they want a 2nd rd pick, they should do it the responsible way.

I'm with you. This team needs another influx of cheap talent because some guys are going to get paid or move on.

Bears and Colts are realistic options but we’d have to drop out of the first round completely.

I think trading down but still staying in the first would only yield a third round pick at best

maybe you werent paying attention when he averaged less then 10 carries a game

i love kamara too, but the realistic facts are he will want too much money next year and we wound keep him any way so trade him now and you definitely get a 1st round pick and maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder to go along with that.

So other GM's are not paying attention either?
