To say some rookie is gonna come in and replace that or let alone come close to giving us what Kamara gave us his first two years is comical.

Go back and reread my post. you clearly misunderstood

But he does way more for our offense than any casual fan realizes.

I realize exactly what he does, I just do not believe it is so extraordinary that he and he alone could do it.

Dark ages is from signing bad free agents and contracts and from missing in the draft.

Amazing how many time you can be wrong in one thread.

Not having draft picks leads to over paying in free agency out of desperation and ending up signing bad free agents to bad contracts.

Every once in a while you swing for the fences on a free agent signing like Brees but in most part free agent signing are supposed to be supplemental, fill ins in areas of need. You build your team in the draft. New England is the perfect example of this.

Teams the fail do the opposite. The Saints used to be a perfect example of this.

maybe you werent paying attention when he averaged less then 10 carries a game

When accounting for the fact that he played 1 less game in 2019 than he did in 2018, his average carries per game weren't that far off of his 2018 totals. And he had the same amount of receptions in '19 as he did in '18. The usage rates weren't that different. It was the big drop in TD's that was the difference.

So the question is do you believe last year is his "norm"? Or was that the anomaly relative to his first two seasons?

Kamara is a huge piece of Payton's offense. Could he get a first rounder in a trade for Kamara? Maybe. But are you confident the Saints can make up for his lost production via other means?

In a season where it looks to truly be the final year for your HOF QB I think the Saints are going to go with a known commodity vs. taking a chance on an unproven rookie.

I don’t think we are going to see eye to eye on this. If we were a bad team then we would need every pick we can get but we don’t have room on our team for 7 plus draft picks so we package to get better players. We won’t have enough room on the roster next year either. I’m not saying sell the farm for years down the line but we have had a lot of success with signing middle of the road role players and packaging picks to get the best players we can get. If you are hitting on your picks then we are fine. We used to miss on those picks but our front office has got really good at finding talent

I think we have a team that capable of competing for a championship as is but our team is so deep that we don’t have room for a bunch of players. Therefore we should get the best players that we can. I’m not saying Ricky Williams trade everything away but we can stay aggressive and get the right players that we want

And if we trade with my Miami (plausible in my opinion) I want more than just the 39th pick, I'd like a 3rd and 7th as well

This. They've got 14 fricking picks. FOURTEEN. We can afford to be a little greedy in what we ask for.

re: How do the Saints get back in the 2nd round?
KJ Hamler might be worth looking into. Can stretch the field with blazing speed. Deep speed and stays separated. Ran past the entire OSU defense last year. Guy can go.

Can catch it and take it the distance- still the number one missing skill on this roster. People say he's too small and that's fair, but he isnt going to be the number 1 guy here. We just need him to be someone who can beat a safety or overmatched LB/dime corner when the rest of the defense is worried about MT, JC, Emmmanuel, or AK. Guy that catches teams sleeping while they worry about everyone else and can take it to the house. We've filled this position previously with Austin Carr, Treshawn Hogan, Brandon Coleman, etc. Imagine how lethal this offense could get if we plug in someone with Hamler's kind of juice

I think Deonte Harris can give you what Hamler would? Not sure we can carry two diminutive WRs like that

Quez Watkins is a 4:3 guy at 6’ from USM. Interesting late round burner
