I'm suprised it hasn't been done already.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards on Wednesday warned residents they should prepare to see a dramatic spike in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state as testing ramps up, and indicated shelter-in-place orders could be on the horizon for certain areas.
“This is going to get much worse before it gets better,” Edwards said, as he announced the state’s sixth death from the virus, a 92-year-old resident of the Lambeth House retirement home in New Orleans.

This would have been effective a week ago.

I refuse to shelter in place until all air travel comes to a halt in the country.
While I do not want either to occur, it is completely asinine to me that the airports continue to operate and they are saying gatherings of 10 or more people is not allowed in public places.

Does this mean no more curbside takeouts and trips to Walgreens?

It’s not gonna be pretty if they do this. This isn’t San Francisco.

Exactly. Doing it after testing finally detects all the previously unconfirmed cases seems pointless.

Complete and total overreaction
We know. It's only been posted a gazillion times the past few days. The problem is people aren't listening. Traffic picking up lunch just now was crazy. Stores are still out of necessities so it's forcing people to drive all over the place. If just one of those people is infected it's a problem.

Edit: I just read the article, he says only for certain Areas.

It is pointless. It’s a “feel good” measure by the governor and will do nothing but further bankrupt small business

Well the governor is an idiot so what else did we expect?

Is lambeth house for poor people or do normal old people live there?

If New York wont do a shelter in place why should the entire state of Louisiana have to do one because of Orleans and Jefferson Parish?
This is madness
i think it's b/c per capita Nola/JP is much, much worse and they know it
they just don't want to cause panic or deal with the political response so the whole state gets punished
