First off, I'm a consultant. I've done work for multi-billion dollar organizations changing the way we manage technology as well as developing new techniques that allowed for deployments of new apps and systems going forward. So no, it's not just managing shite. Even off-the-shelf software still needs to be managed, deployed, and maintained in a unique manner depending on the business and it's needs.
Besides, what is your definition of "creating technology"? Amazon Web Services was born though expanding the current Amazon.com website to make it easily scalable to keep up with customer demand. The techniques developed is what gave us AWS. They took what you would consider "managing IT" and created a new product from it.
eta: I bet you're one of those assholes who thinks the IT department needs to fix the broken microwave in the break room. God forbid you don't eat your breakfast hot pocket.

these smart individuals are entrepreneurs, right?...with tremendous vision. They were bored with school...kind of like Rush Limbaugh, he's smart, self educated , didn't go to college, and he changed talk radio in his segment
Gates is probably the smartest tech guy on your list...but these billionaires will be the first to tell you although they get credit for their vision and brand, -a ton of talented, highly educated people helped make it happen.

I thought the thread was about whether or not Bloomberg’s statements were accurate. They were not, and he apparently doesn’t understand the difference between intelligence and education. He flatly claimed that farmers and machinists don’t have to think or analyze. That’s laughable. It’s not true of farmers and machinists today and it’s not true of farmers and machinists who lived 200 years ago.

I don’t normally get upset with things like this — I just “whatever”. But I’m married to a farmer, a very educated farmer. Who busts his rear and so do his two employees. And so did his dad and grandfather before him.
He’s damn good at what he does — if it’s “so easy” why do some people go bankrupt and we get called to take over their land?

Um yeah me too. I married into a farming family — never even gave a thought to where my food came before that. Knew it wasn’t “from the store” but ever thought about the process and the time and money and dependency on the weather.
It’s a crap shoot for sure but someone has to feed Gods people.
