When you spend your life in Brooklyn and Manhattan you take for granted what a farmer or rancher has to go through. You get to consume his product.

I learned more about commidities by talking to to Texas and Montana cattle ranchers than any guy in academia or New York.

I would bet Bloomberg couldn’t make a profitable crop himself on 1,000 acres.

Actually they do learn most on the job. That’s why they do residency

This, ladies and gentlemen is why we need the electoral college. Honestly, it should be more biased than it currently is--as population is far more concentrated than it was at the founding.

To make the point the creation and advancement of technology in any field requires the worlds best and brightest...

Good point, but residency starts in what year of education?

k-12, 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, 3-7 years of residency depending

You are not to bright if you are running for public office and have a history of degrading blacks, women, the elderly, farmers, machinists, gun owners, and those who like large soft drinks and salt. This elitist POS can spend all the money he has, but the more people hear the less they will like him.
You're probably right, but the irony of it is that he's exactly right! You just can't say it in public.

I am doing a really bad job of making the point here.. IT support is not "Technology" ..sure it's a part of it

Chemist, Bio, Research, Electrical, Mechanical engineer minds develop and create new technology, How did we get from no cell phones to smart phones? Art teachers? No, but the Art teach could teach students how to use that Smartphone

with all due respect your mom is teaching people how to use technology... She is not teaching students how to development new technology.

Farmers don't go to college to learn how to farm, they go to work and learn from other farmers...the process to grow and harvest food is fairly straightforward. Frankly the lord does a lot of the providing..

You can’t be this dumb
I’d bet for farmers under 60 well over half went to college
God can make or break a crop but everything in between is a lot more than straight forward

I've worked in IT for more than 20 years and went to college for it as well. Additionally I was an information systems operator in the Army where not only I went to school but learned on the job. I learned a lot more through experience and having to learn changes as they happen often. What we were doing 10 years ago is a lot different now.

get that you're playing devils advocate, but I'd wager that if you swapped everyone in the tech sector with every farmer, you would have complete failure from both groups. Neither is a simple task.

Well, I think we have to talk about specific jobs to make the point...

Technology is more about man's creation using his mind to accomplish something. I do believe God gives us the ability to figure it out...

Farming is about figuring out where to grow certain foods, , scale it, package it, sell / deliver it in good condition.

In no way am I diminishing the smarts or hard work it takes to farm in today's world or yesterday's world...

I am merely suggesting Bloomberg probably had the traditional small farmer of 75 years ago in mind with his comparison relative to brain power.

technically each of us could grow our food in our back yards...raise chickens and cows...it wouldn't be fun, but we could do it...

in the Technology world he was referring, we don't go to the moon without the brightest the world has to offer

What a dumbass. Majority of the farmers these days use a ton of technology. From GPS to drive equipment to drones to conduct surveys for crop condition and irrigation needs.

Yes, you would be amazed at the technology, engineering, science that is involved in today’s farming.

You also are wrong about schooling. The newer generation of farmers whether generational or first generation are college educated.
