Had discussion years back with a friend who just had his car broken into under his carport. After cooling down from wishing he would have caught the sob and blew him away..He said "You know, I am not sure I could have lived with myself knowing that I just blew the head off of a 15 year old kid for just stealing my wallet"

f they appear to be without a gun, I would shoot them in their hip/calf/upper leg.

You might be in a bigger world of shite than if you just drop them completely.

your vehicle is an extension of your home, if you can prove your life was threatened you can protect it. Of course any good defense lawyer will fight that you could of locked house door and called police.

Also realize that even if you are justified....you still can be sued civilly.

Cheaper to just call 911.

in texas yes, in louisiana no. only way would be if you feel that they are threatening your life. i.e. you are going to get in your car to go to the store and the perp tries to attack you with a pipe.

I don't think I'd do it for legal reasons, but I'm pretty confident I could live with it.

I don't know what that says about me, but not much pisses me off more than someone entering my property illegally and stealing my shite.

There is just no reason to hope for that confrontation. I know some people want it and some people could handle it but they're not necessarily the same.

Moreover, there have been multiple examples of good family guys doing this in the Southeast over the last 5-10 years only to be killed in front of their homes by some dumbass 16 year olds who have no fricking appreciation for what they're doing. I feel like this happened to a Marine home from deployment in Alabama not long ago.

I am not shooting someone for a car unless I am in it or family in it.

replacing your vehicle is cheaper than your legal defense, even if you get off. not worth the headache. just stay inside and call the cops.

No. It is also illegal to booby trap your property. I would recommend that instead of shooting a weapon just throw a lit string of Black Cats at the perp. Then if he draws down on you then you pop em.

The fear of him taking your gun away and killing you can be used as part of the justification but you have to be able to articulate why that fear was reasonable.

Also, the violator cannot claim any self defense because he is in the act of committing a crime.

If you don’t mind going to prison, you can shoot anybody, anywhere, for any reason.

This is an interesting topic. Can you shoot them with rubber bullets or beanbags? Maybe I need 2 guns one for home defense and another for protection of property. Also what about tranquilizer darts. I think I still have my blowgun in the attic
