no. Why would you? What in your car is worth taking someone's life? Stuff can be replaced.

Apparently it's worth risking their life to steal that stuff so why shouldn't they be obliged? Some of us work hard and appreciate our "stuff", some POS tries to take my "stuff" they will get a confrontation and if they chose poorly they might be doing the room temperature challenge as a result. Someday you, and others, will learn that being soft targets just makes criminals more emboldened at puts everyone at increased risk of harm.

A new burden has been established following the controversial shootings involving Trayvon Martin and Alton Sterling that you need to take into account when weighing the risk: Was the shooting morally justified?

This is complete bullshite.

Sure you can.

If some guy can shoot Big Lee in his driveway for watering the vegetables, you can shoot an 11 year old trying to steal your alpine.

If the new burden doesn’t exist, why isn’t Darren Wilson still a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri?

Why isn’t Blane Salamoni still a police officer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana?

Ferguson and Baton Rouge have very similar demographics.

There’s no new standard. There have always been politicians willing to bend to the whims of community outrage no matter how misplaced it is.

Shoot the dude. Throw one of your guns in the floorboard and claim your life was in danger because you knew there was a gun right there and he was reaching for it. Or if you have one there already even better.

Lie your arse off. Whatever you gotta do to show how scared you were. You don't really need to go overboard and get his fingerprints on the gun. That kind of crap will get you caught.

Not sure but I thought your car was an extension of your house. One thing I do know for sure. The scenario you are talking about would get you a charge of murder. That would be considered hunting

No one thinks they are putting their life in the line breaking into a car. I work hard for my stuff and appreciate what I have. I also know 99% of it can be replaced. I can’t believe you think it’s acceptable to kill someone over a car stereo or a laptop. I bet you also say to yourself “in my day we handled arguments with our fists” when you hear about an argument that turned into a shooting. It’s all replaceable. If it’s not, don’t leave it in your car. How is your crap worth killing over?

I'm not talking about OT people. I know some guys that live in Lakeview that wouldn't hesitate to do it if it was legal and I'm just wondering why it hasn't happened.

This is very true. I grew up in Lakeview almost my entire life and very few intruders have made it out of Lakeview homes alive when the owner was inside.

In Louisiana, if you see that someone is breaking into your car in your driveway on your property, can you go outside and shoot them?

Only if you're a City of New Orleans employee and you live in the marigny. If youre a nobody, white, West Banker who defends yourself from inside your own vehicle from a famous football player or or a nobody, big, black dude who defends yourself from another famous football player, youre shite out of luck.

In other words, if you know the right people, you can kill anybody for any reason, especially in Louisiana, but certainly not limited to Louisiana. Just ask Jeffrey Epstein.

In Kentucky, if you or anyone else approved by you are in the car at the time of the crime, the Castle Doctrine extends to the vehicle and lethal force is allowed. Furthermore, the owner of the car does not have to feel threatened by death or physical harm. LINK

This is an interesting topic. Can you shoot them with rubber bullets or beanbags? Maybe I need 2 guns one for home defense and another for protection of property. Also what about tranquilizer darts. I think I still have my blowgun in the attic

Of course.

In Louisiana, there is no specific mention of the type of weapon used, it's only titled 'Justifiable Homicide'. By law, that doesn't matter if it's by ball & chain(flail), Uzi or fisticuffs. Now that doesn't mean that the jury won't care. Firearms have been stigmatized in our society over the last 30 years.

You're unlikely to kill an individual with bean bags and rubber bullets, but it's possible.

Would I get charged if I shot a gun in the air to scare the fuk out of them ? Serious question

Was already stated but it depends on whether you Would be in violation of municipal or Parish ordinances against discharge of firearms. In my Parish, it's 1,000 feet from the edge of any residentially zoned property. Which is like the entire Parish. It's a pretty poorly written ordinance. Law enforcement around here basically enforces it at their own discretion. I believe it's a misdemeanor.

Unfortunately, these often make it onto a jury.
