Wow, Italy at 919 deaths today. Almost 3 weeks into the lockdown...

About 5 percent are not. How would you feel if your SO was in a building with a bomb threat that was real and LE said only 5 percent of them are legit so let's just dick around and not take it seriously.

You could call in a bomb threat to my building and I wouldn't take it seriously. I don't freak out over 5% anomalies

Besides, bombs are more effective when there are people around them so warning your target prior makes zero sense

Wasn’t he the moron that claimed 80% of his state would have it?

Well, in fairness it was the health director that came up with that. That may end up being correct for all I know. In lieu of an extended lockdown or a vaccine, what would prevent that from being the case?

He’s also saying we will be getting 10,000 cases a day at that point. I’m sure the computer models are way more sophisticated than my brain, but man, if that’s the case I feel like a significant chunk the population is just being absolutely careless about protecting themselves.

Everyone I know is staying in their houses during the week and only leaving once or twice during the weekend to get takeout and help support local places. 10,000 a day in Ohio just seems crazy given how far Dewine has been ahead of others, along with the awful testing standards.

There's no fricking way that's going to happen. The models have been extremely wrong so far, but for some reason instead of course correcting the local governments seem to just continually revise their timelines further and further out. At some point the reality of what's actually happening needs to override the consistently wrong doomsday models.

Same health director that claimed 2 million Europeans and 250k Americans would die? That’s has been revised down to 20k...

I can throw fear mongering numbers too! 300 million Americans will have this and 45 million will die. Maybe I should be a health director

No and no.

Not the same person.

And no one claimed that 2 million Europeans would die. The claim was that many people could die if no one did anything to slow down the virus.

Quit lying or trolling or whatever trash this is.

Actually, the reverse is true. Original models after Wuhan determined that the R0 of the virus was 2.6, meaning that, without intervention, an an average infected person would infect 2.6 others.

We still don't know what the true R0 of the virus is, but we do know that it's well north of 3. That's one reason why the virus caught Europe and the US off-guard. No one was ready for the explosive growth.

Mr Perfect earlier in this thread claimed over 1.6 million Americans would die from this.

Nah, models have been grossly overstating death rates and hospitalizations since this started. Keep pushing your doom and gloom agenda though.

Correct. He did say that 2 million Americans could die if nothing was done. But that was pretty much pointless because just about every country affected by the virus had already put measures in place to slow the spread. But the media pounced on it and ran with it and it indeed caused a panic from the public. That model was cited in every single major news outlet in America and a lot of them left out the part where it said "if nothing is done".

The media spun it and caused mass panic. Not only from the public, but I'm sure some government agencies, whether they be local, state, or federal ( Trump certainly mentioned it), used the model to base decisions on. It was taken as gospel back then, but now when one of the authors is backtracking, anyone who was skeptical at first is ridiculed for even thinking the original numbers were off.

Italy averages about 2k deaths a day historically. Not sure how many of the 900 would have died anyway and been part of the 2k historical number. Its bad news for sure but some perspective is needed as well

VGA is less than desirable. The gaming laptop will more than likely have a port for a HDMI or a display port cable. Sometimes it could be a mini-hdmi or mini-display port. Tell us what model laptop you bought and we can help you. hope you feel better soon!

Thank you. Her friend brought her a dvi to hdmi adapter and she hooked it up to her smart TV and said it works great. I bought her a refurbished HP desktop for 600 bucks on Amazon. Have no idea if it was a good deal or not just her telling me it was a grand or more for the one she really wanted so I gave in when she found one for six.

Back on topic, yes the doctor started the zpack the second day in and I am now on plaquenil and hoping it works. The doctor seems to have a lot of faith in it do I guess we'll see. I will continue to give updates. Believe it or not it gives me strength to see the support I get here. I am trying to stay strong and act like it isn't a big deal when I am on the phone with my family but I really am kind of scared. I am teetering on the brink with my symptoms. If they get worse then I will be moved upstairs. The doctor said if that happens it doesn't mean I am going to die but I can't help but be a little worried. I can't keep from worrying about who would pay the mortgage if something happened to me. My wife hasn't worked since we dated 17 years ago. Who would teach my pre teen the valuable life lessons that only comes from fathers? Anyway, enough of that. I am not critical right now, just serious. Definitely gonna get life insurance policy when I get out of here. I have just never seriously thought I needed one in my forties.

Kick this shite and then be the obnoxious arse during football season that we've come to expect. I like stability.

It sounds like you are in good hands even though the original ER doctor didn't instill a lot of confidence. Praying for you here in Ohio.

Yeah, you can probably bet on that as well. Surely, these Nancy's won't cancel football season.
