We have deeper pockets though, right?

I'm just saying that it's kind of odd to state Carroll endorses him, when Carroll also fired him.

I usually just ignore this and let people be wrong but just to point out, Pete went another direction because KR blitzed more than he felt confortable with. I forget how the article worded it, but there was a minor philosophical difference and Pete felt it was time for him to find a place that suited his style better. Saying he was fired is ridiculous. He was a good DC in the NFL if not a great one. Just a little more aggressive than what Pete wanted. Can we stop the false narrative that Kris Richards did something wrong to lose that job because it’s simply not true. He called his defense the way he always does and it worked well, despite all the injuries that last year.

If LSU wants him they're going to have to pay a salary similar to what Aranda was getting.

I think it’s pretty risky getting someone who doesn’t have college experience. I’d go the Aranda route. Find a young and up and coming college D coordinator who isn’t making a lot and slap a big raise on him.

Luckily we have a national championship winning coach making this decision instead of you

Just a hunch, I see Richard and Raymond as Co-DC’s, with Raymond turning down A&M and his contract running out soon, something’s up.

Would that make Busch the odd man out? I just don’t see us having 3 d coaches that specialize in DBs.

If it's Richard I like it...

...with one reservation...

We're trying to establish continuity. Will Richard use a good year here to springboard back to the NFL and leave us looking for another replacement in January of 2021?

I think he's a fiery guy and players will like him, and I think he'd do good. But the rumor mill (fwiw) says he has zero interest in recruiting. That's a huge part of being a college coach. Even the very cerebral and introverted Dave Aranda became quite a good recruiter in his own way.

In short, can't fully decide how I feel if indeed it is Richard.

So, you are saying he wasn't fired? So he quit, is what you are saying?

Wait... Now you are saying he was fired.

I didn't say any of that. In fact, I even emphasized that I didn't mean that in one of my post.

Does he want to recruit? That is the question since he’s been out of the college game for quite a while now.

No one doubts his coaching skills, but going from 24/7 football in an NFL organization to chancing prima Donna high schoolers is a big change.

I don't know, but I think it would be a safe assumption that if he is interviewing for college jobs then he knows that this comes with the territory.

1) He does have college experience, though it’s obviously been a while

2) He has experience at a HIGHER level than college. Wtf does he need college experience for?

He may hate recruiting (though I doubt he’d take a college job if that were the case), but I think he’ll do just fine regardless. At least as well as our last 2 DCs. His main job is to coordinate and call the defense. If he can do that extremely well, the rest is lagniappe.

That is not true .
The percentages were about 22% every year Carroll has been there

This is my only concern with this potential hire.
