that's because libertarians tend to call out conservatives for not being conservative.

I agree with that too. I think it's good, albeit annoying, to have them around even if its just for that reason.

I found that I agreed with a lot of it in principle but had a hard time applying it to the real word in a few areas. I imagine that's a lot like what the founding father experienced when they were building this country.

You're right. It's very hard to apply to the real world. Especially because of a deep underlying philosophy of "I don't give a shite." This is why the Libertarian conventions have been 99% male.
How many times do you hear policies that will raise taxes to cure 'X' problem and the pitch is "If it will save the life of one child it's worth it."
That appeals to women. Libertarians would say "I don't give a shite about one child. Let his own damn parents take care of his arse."

The founders were definitely libertarian leaning in their unique distrust of govt. and collectivism.

I don't think they hate it, I think they're scared of it. Humans like to be in control and our brains are wired for a certain degree of order.

You'd be hard pressed to find any lock step republicans, especially among politicians. That's part of the frustration. With all the bickering over details, the conservative agenda rarely ever moves forward. Folks who identify as libertarian often end up passively hindering the conservative agenda and aiding the progressive agenda.

Or, consider it a place to publicly admit that the libertarian sky screaming, waiting on Nancy Pelosi to give her blessing (while more Americans are killed or maimed) was in fact bullshite, and stupid.

Real libertarians (and there are very few) oppose open borders. The philosophy is very consistent. America is relatively free.
Proposition: 'Do you support 100 million people crossing the border into the US to establish Communism and destroy all freedom?'
Open Border Libertarian: 'Uh, well, I guess not.'
Then you are not for open borders, moron.
Open Border Libertarian: 'Oh, I guess you're right. Thanks, Zach.'

Real libertarians understand that the only borders that exist are property boundaries, and that your own property boundaries are the limit of where you can dictate that other human beings travel. You have no right to dictate who your neighbor can allow on his property.

Real libertarians have no problem with some other group of people setting up their own communist commune, so long as all members do so voluntarily, are allowed to leave voluntarily, and that they do not violate anyone’s rights.

Real libertarians oppose all aggression, which is the initiation of nonconsensual force. This includes theft/taxation and forced monopolies, which are common in government.

I would split that:

45% hate it.
45% are scared to death of it.

Libertarians do not support classifying undocumented immigrants as criminals. Our current immigration system is an embarrassment. People who would like to follow the legal procedures are unable to because these procedures are so complex and expensive and lengthy. If Americans want immigrants to enter through legal channels, we need to make those channels fair, reasonable, and accessible.

Straight from the Libertarian Party website .

Libertarian Party : "frick our countries rules , LEGAL immigration is "complex , expensive and lengthy" .

Love open borders
