Archery question about eye dominance

I am right handed but left eye dominant and I wanna get a bow and start target practicing. Should I get a left handed bow or just stay right handed?

I'm left-handed but right eye dominant. I shoot a left-handed bow simply because it was given to me. When I buy my next bow, I'm going to shoot left- and right-handed bows and see what I'm comfortable with and accurate with. I would suspect it will be another left-handed bow since that's what I've been shooting though.
I would shoot both and see what you are most comfortable with. Common advice is to go by eye dominance, but I've done fine with what I have.

eye patch over left eye and shoot right handed, right eye will become stronger over time, you won’t notice the difference...

Exactly what I did to get used to shooting left-handed. Probably needed the patch for a week, week and a half tops.

I'm the same as you. I use a LH bow. It feels way more natural to me.

One of my sons is a true lefty. He fires a shotgun, rifle and pistol from the left side. However, he tried both a left handed and right handed bow and settled on the right handed bow. He says it just feels better and he is very accurate with it. Just FYI:

Most "good" shooters have both eyes open
I had the same problem and went to a top notch archery shop, the pro explained it to me and it works.
I shoot right and am left eye dominate, so I learned to shoot this way (both open).
Disclaimer: I'm not a very good shot

Both eyes open is the way to go.
Will take a little time and effort to learn.
But you will be a better shot all around once you do, especially shotgun.

Same here, get the left hand bow. You’ll be far happier.

Haven’t gotten into archery yet but my son is right handed and left eye dominant. I just kept on him with practice to use right eye and now he does it naturally and shoots very well. I’m right hand dominant and couldn’t imagine using a left hand bow although it’s probably easier when learning as a child.

Its not like shooting a rifle. I shoot RH including pistols. For the LH bow I just picked it up and started using it like normal. It just felt better.

Just close the proper eye and you are good. No need for a patch the eyelid works just fine.
Never understood the people that make such a big deal about which eye is dominant. Both of mine work just fine when the opposite eye is closed.

Right handed, very, right handed. Left eye dominant, very, left eye dominant.
Here’s what you don’t understand. I can’t even close my left eye without closing both first, and even then, when I try to open my right eye only, it tracks left.
Maybe an eye patch for weeks would help, but I just went ahead and got a lefty bow. It is so natural, I draw it right to my left eye, and the peep is just naturally there. I believe a lot of guys are like this.
And I hear all the time “shoot with both eyes open” but what they don’t get is that with both eyes open, my left eye takes over, so closing the right vs both open=same difference.

Because some people don't have the ability to shut one eye independent of the other initially. I had to work on closing my left eye by itself.

So do mine. But you still have a dominant eye. If you always shoot with one eye closed, it's not an issue. But if you go back and forth between one eye closed and both eyes open, if you aren't using your dominant eye in those "one eye" times, the target is going to "shift".

Ended up getting a left handed Cabelas Dash for 250.00 on Black Friday. Having a great time until I slapped my wrist

I'm the same. Every thing I learned as a kid that involved aiming I naturally did left handed (shooting a long gun , shooting pool) but throw a ball, bat or kick right handed. My first bow, in my early 20s, was right handed and I shot it well but had to close my left eye to do it. Switched to left handed and it was so much easier. Same with a pistol when I switched to a left hand grip

Shoot each and see what is more natural. I am right handed and right eye dominant, but shoot a left hand bow. Reason is a shoulder injury that won't allow my left arm to be my brace arm. Can only physically pull about 40 lbs on a right hand bow. Using my left arm as my draw arm, I can shoot 60 lbs. I had no trouble at all switching even though I am right hand and right eye dominant.

Same eye dominance set up here. Shot my right handed bow with no issues.
