I can not go into detail nor can I disclose sauces, but several meetings were held with the Alabama "powers that be" and Team Hawaii right up to the night before the game. Tua's parents did not want him to go (it was pretty clear the injury was not healed). However, it was made clear that if he did not go, his brother's future (which is already in doubt due to one Bryce Young) would be elsewhere. Tua made the final call. Just so you know.

Even though I could see Saban doing something like that, I don't buy it.

you mean to tell me that Saban would kick Tua's brother off the team if Tua didn't play? Let's see how that works out.

Tua doesn't play another down for Bama and goes on to be a Top 5-10 pick in the draft, allowing him to enter into a multimillion dollar contract. Tua's brother easily transfers to another Power 5 school just based on name alone. Even if Tua's brother dropped out of school, Tua would take care of him because, guess what? He has millions of dollars.

if you think Saban is some sort of grand puppet master.

The Evil Empire! Who would want their kid playing for that man no matter how good he is. He is a jerk.

Saban made it very clear that the decision was Tua’s decision.

No pressure from coaches.

It was probably the best decision because Tua was incredible. Too many dropped balls.
Tua was not the reason they lost.

Defense let us score more points than they could score
We just beat them

Your sources are either playing you, or are fictional altogether.

If Tua did not want to go, he had every excuse to tank it on his 1stQ fumble play when he appeared to concomitantly roll his ankle. Could have called it a day right then, and no one would have batted an eye.

OTOH, if Tua does tank it at this stage, he's not necessarily doing himself any favors. Look at what happened to Greedy's stock when he elected to leave the team high-and-dry last year.
