I love stocking up on cheap frozen turkeys around Thanksgiving. Last year we saw the lowest turkey prices on record when adjusted for inflation. I managed to snag a few at $0.39 per pound. This year national prices are expected to increase 9%

As many people around the nation will be googling turkey prices a good thread on it on the OT will increase our traffic even more. It will also help local penny pinchers save some money.

Please post your location, grocery store, turkey brand, and price per turkey. Any additional info like minimum purchase needed or max number of turkeys should also be included if possible.

I will update as info is provided

So, this thread is telling us we are going to pay, on average, $0.45-0.50 more per bird? OMG!

The cheap frozen supermarket turkeys are full of water and brine. Some may even be left over from last year. A fresh, never frozen(solid) turkey is about $40. That’s what I’m going to share with my family.

I never tasted turkey until 1974 when I was 17 years old. It was at a girlfriends house after Thanksgiving. My Mom and MawMaw always cooked PouleDeau gumbo for Thanksgiving. Plus pork roast ,ducks, and seafood dishes.

what's funny is that when i was president of one of the groups at xavier, we teamed up with one of neighborhood parks to do a food for the poor. We bought 10 turkeys from Rouses and 2 local restaurants helped us cook them.

I don't like Rouses meat because I think its really lackluster or downright bad, but the one near belle chasse definitely helped us with getting a bunch of supplies for that event. they even donated $100 of drinks

My mom sent me a picture the other day, she found an 8.1lb turkey breast that was mislabeled as .81 lb.

She asked the guy stocking them and he shrugged and said “take it and run to the register.”

She bought it for $1.52.
