Is all the hype gone?

For those in NOLA, has all of the excitement from the preseason completely been wiped out by the Zion injury and slow start? I saw a lot of empty seats on tv at the last home game. I personally know a lot of non-basketball fans that were getting excited about the franchise, some of which have now gone back to focusing more on the Saints. Is that the general feeling in the city?

For the casual fan (which is 95% of this city), yes

It’s not gone for the people who actually care about the team and the future. I still enjoy watching the young guys grow. Ive said it 100 times and ill say it again, we arent winning a championship this year. It’s about the growth. And if we get a good lottery pick and have another solid guy for next year, even better. The future is bright. Enjoy the ride through the low points.

Sure a bit, but it will ramp up when Zion comes back. The key will be if he can’t sustain health, obviously paired with his play. But there’s a lot of things to be excited with watching this team healthy for the more invested crowd. Not making the playoffs wasn’t the biggest issue with those old teams it was the stale tapped out talent. We were at our ceiling and single injuries derailed our team. As were constructed now there’s young talent to watch grow, and assets as backup if they don’t.

A lot of people won't pay attention until after football season. If the Saints and LSU sucked this year, more people would be following the Pels.

Nah. I’m what you would call a casual Pels fan. May go to 1-3 games a year in SKC. Would make an effort to watch Pels games on TV if it’s a nationally televised game.
Even sans Zion and 1-4 start, I still find myself much more vested and interested in this team, trying to catch every game via livestreams.
Most reasonable people should have a long term approach to this build with Zion. It’s not the worst thing in the world if we tank the beginning of the season while all these new guys gel, then pick up some steam when Zion returns and play competitive bball, and potentially pick up a lotto pick in the process.
A playoff run or 7-8 seed this year would’ve been a fun ride, but there’s still a lot to look forward to.

Since many identify with teams, pels being in last place pushes people away.
Basketball fans will watch to see development of naw, hayes, jackson
And to appreciate hart and ingram.
"Which one are we dad?"
My daughter said this while 5 or 6 years old.
I was watching hoops.
Even 6 she knew that people identify with teams.

We hear this same bullshite every year. It didn’t matter when they were winning. The Blender was packed regardless. Now when they aren’t as successful, people use football as an excuse.

There is no more hype ... I can't believe that the huge amount of good will that Griff built was completely gone in the matter of 2 weeks

Alvin Gentry.
If this team looked a bit better, was more disciplined, and maybe won the games they should be winning, the hype would still be there.
Every year it’s the same thing. Team doesn’t look ready to play. No discipline. We lose to the teams we should beat. And the one constant is Alvin Gentry. It’s ok to not have zion and some injures, but the team is still too talented to be 1-5 and losing games the way they are. I’m a lifelong fan and I find myself disinterested already, and not even looking forward to their games. At least until Zion gets back. I can’t even watch these games live, gotta record and fast forward. Who has time to watch garbage basketball?

The hype machine got injured. As much as everyone wants to believe it’s Not just Zion, at this point I think it is. People will come around to the other stuff when Zion is healthy and we are winning. Those are the people that will fill those seats.

The hype was 99% Zion. He’s a generational player. First of his kind. He shall return and shock the world.

Our Batman and Robin are currently injured.
And the Riddler seems to have played one good game out of five on his MVP chase :smh:

Beside yesterday, the team has been entertaining. So, if you're actually watching games and in this for the Long haul, then there is plenty to be excited about.
Also, I learned yesterday that BI is actually good and not just posting #s because of the system. BI and Zion together a few years with Ball being a distributor is going to be fun.

What hype?
At best we were projected to be a 8th seed by most prognosticators and that was with Zion playing 75+ games
We are a young team without our best player, with a whole collection of new players working on chemistry and if they fit here
We have lots of room to grow and have played a lot of good teams to start the year so far
As long as the team doesn't quit and keeps battling and improving the year was a success
Also Halloween weekend is probably a bad way to judge attendance especially in a city like NOLA

The reality of the situation is that as long as Alvin is coach, our ceiling is slightly above mediocre

Last year issue too. The turnovers....the lack of defense. The questionable lineups at the end of the game. Flash to this year same issues. With an almost completely different roster. Now you tell me what's to blame. I dont wanna hear that youth shxt because we had almost all vets last year and did the same crap. I'm sick of it man.
