Our almost 3 year old has only slept in our bed a handful of times when he was sick or when we were out of town. I think our 8 month old has only slept in our bed on my wife's chest for an hour here and there to get him back to sleep when he is teething, I guess he hasn't really gotten old enough for this to be an issue with him yet

Let the boy watch. He has to learn. The way I learned from my father.

Know how I know you're not married (yes, I know you said so in your post)...
Not all sex between married couples happen at bedtime.
I don't think I've had sex later than 6pm in 10 years. Bedtime is for sleeping. Sex in the middle of the day is awesome.

This man speaks the truth. It's how I learned that mothers like their hair pulled and their necks firmly - but not too firmly - choked.

I have a bunch of Eastern Euro friends that now live in the states. Kids sleeping in parents bed late into childhood is a real thing. (Doesn’t happen in my family)
The other is breast feeding late into childhood. When a child is old enough to walk up to mom and say he/she is hungry I think it’s time to stop. One of my friends kids basically asked to my wife to breast feed him. He’s old enough to know she has boobs but not old enough to understand not every woman with boobs is a source of food for him.
But yes, I don’t think kids should be sleeping in their parents bed, but I suspect it happens quite a bit.

Yes.
No kids allowed in there.

Better be in the middle of the day when the little frick trophies aren't there.
I'd be nervous if they slept in my bed often that they would get too comfortable and just walk into the room anytime they wanted.

Naptime and doorlocks.
Our son, 16, has known for a while now that why our door is locked sometime between 1pm and 5pm on Saturdays.

I'll let my kid go in our room and watch TV sometimes. She's almost 13 though. No other kids allowed in my bedroom.

On Saturdays, my parents would just tell me to leave the house and don't come home until the street lights came on...took a while until I figured out why

Kids spending too much time in parents bed seems way too common now. When I was a kid, sure I would sneak into my parents bed if I had a nightmare or something but I slept in my own bed 95% of the time.
Parents I know now pretty much wasted money on bedroom furniture b/c their kids sleep in their bed 7 days a week. It's crazy. One girl I went to high school with calls it "co-sleeping"
What I think it really boils down to are that parents are too lazy to tell their kids no and train them to sleep in their own beds most of the time.
much of the latest generations issues will be b/c of lazy parenting.

My oldest 2 share a room and my wife was very worried about them never falling asleep when we first did it. I’m convinced have the two of them together helps them sleep. They almost never wake us up from nightmares or need to sleep with us. Really only when they are sick and then rarely even. We have a spare bedroom and try to take the sick kid in there to quarantine them.
So yes I’m completely against it, not really for sex purposes as much as just basic boundaries and increasing everyone’s quality of sleep.
Given that, I know multiple parents that let either babies sleep which is dangerous or kids waaaaaayyy too old to still routinely sleep with them.

Well aware. I don't really have much interest in either currently. Maybe closer to 40 I'll get one then 9 months later the other.

Only if they’re sick and need me throughout the night... otherwise, they keep that arse in their bedrooms. I’ve got enough distractions during the day that cock block, definitely don’t need that at night.
