Maybe KG will be divorced by then and you can swoop in.

We never let either of our kids sleep in the bed with us, except under extenuating circumstances. That has always been a hard rule in our house, but neither of our kids ever really wanted to sleep in our bed so it never was a big deal.
Master is not off limits, unless one of us is sleeping. I go to bed early, while the wife likes to sleep in, so it's rare that the kids are awake when we are both asleep so it's never really been a problem. Both kids also like to sleep late, and always have, so never had the issue of them coming to get in the bed early in the morning on weekends.
We've been pretty blessed in that regard. Some friends have relayed some horror stories, and we know one family whose son slept in his parents' bed until he was 16.

Two 8 year old boys...
Maybe once per year one of them will be really sick, so they'll sleep with the wife and I'll take one of the spare bedrooms, but that's really it.
On the weekends, here and there one or both may be watching a movie with the wife and fall asleep, but I just move them to the couch or their bedroom when I head in to sleep.

At this age have you ever let them sleep in your bed? Consistently?

My kids are 2 and 5. They've never spent a night in our bed. If they wander in during the night we walk them right back to their bed. Letting your kids sleep in your bed is like feeding a wild animal. Once you do it they'll keep coming back

Exactly. I used to beat my daughter with a rolled up magazine and spray her in the face with a water bottle. That didn't work so well. But a night out in the backyard did.

Grandkids man. Can sleep with us when they want. Don’t spoil your little ones. Spoil the grandkids.
And when you get grandkids give them all the Dr Pepper and candy they want about an hour before they go back to their parents

We are pretty relaxed about it. Our 5 year old sleeps in his bed 99% of the time now, but he slept with us somewhat regularly for a little while between 2 and 4.
Now the 3 and 2 year olds will wake up from their beds and come in about half the time.
They won't always want to sleep with us, so I've come to enjoy it knowing it won't last. I also travel a lot and get plenty of empty bed time. I find myself missing the little cuddles at times when I'm on the road.

My 3 yo girl rarely comes in our room, and if she does its usually at like 4-5 am when my alarm starts going off.
This morning however, we found her asleep in the dog bed on the floor with the dog. Had a pillow and blanket with her.

When my daughter was 6, I got up one morning and found her in the dog kennel. We had a puppy we were crate training, and she said the puppy was barking and she didn't want it to wake us up, so she got in there with the puppy and fell asleep. Problem was she left the kennel door open and the puppy pissed all over the house and tore up two throw pillows and a pair of the wife's shoes.

We aren't at that age yet, still in a crib. But I plan to have a no sleep in our bed rule. We do have a couch in our room so maybe if he has a bad night he could sleep there or bring in his nap mat and sleep next to us. All hard to day for sure until we get to that stage.

I have a bunch of Eastern Euro friends that now live in the states. Kids sleeping in parents bed late into childhood is a real thing.
Letting young humans sleep alone is very very very against our nature. It is a society driven element, not a natural one
Having said this, our kids dont sleep in our bed unless sick or absolutely having a night terror (they are 3 and 1)
Just find it interesting

I honestly have never seen such rigid parenting until I met the OT

I have 3 kids. In the 12 years I’ve been a parent, none of those frickers have ever slept in my bed at night because that’s my kingdom and the peasants sleep in their own damn beds.

Keep the vaseline handy as a sex aid.
Put it on the doorknob so the kids can't get in.

I posted this before, not that I'd expect anyone to remember, but...
When we moved from Florida to Texas, our new house is a 2 story with kid's bedroom upstairs and master downstairs. Kids were both only 4 years old.
I think the distance/upstairs thing caused some big time issues for my 1 kid when we first moved. First month was fine, then he started almost nightly coming to our room saying he's scared, send him back up, right back down 10 minutes later...wash/rinse/repeat.
Had that issue for a few days, probably couple of weeks. With work my wife and I were obviously losing our minds due to lack of sleep but were steadfast in there's no chance the remedy is to just let him in bed because that would set the standard for being the only way to remedy the situation.
We went about it all wrong at first, telling him if he came in our room he'd lose certan privileges the next day, didn't work, not even a little bit.
Probably shoulda been common sense, but I read up a bit on it with 1 quick google search, and it really gave some perspective into something we don't think should be a big deal but stuff like this is legit stressful for a 4 year old, like he was really struggling. Like all the same stresses adults may feel about jobs, providing and protecting your kids, 4 years old can be just as stressed about shite like this. So we swtiched up the gameplan from punishment to rewards for going through an entire night without coming to our room. We also placed a mat on the floor with a blanket and pillow, and we did allow him to sleep there, telling him he doesn't have to wake us up if he doesn't want to, just get on the floor/mat and go to sleep.
He did the mat thing a few nights, then with the rewards system, all in all, it was resolved in 1 week and things have been fine since.

It's obviously not a 1 time allowance thing and you're screwed forever, but I absolutely do agree that you gotta keep tabs on it or it can get out of hand and be tough to break the cycle.

Honestly, think about it. Humans are wired to find other humans. We are like a dogs, wolves, etc. We survive in packs. Sleeping alone is something we learn to do from society, not from our nature. Same as being ashamed to be naked.
A 3 year old doesnt care about being naked in front of anybody, just like they dont want to naturally sleep alone
When I get pissed cause my little one ventures into our bed, I have to remind myself this before I act like a typical psycho
