How does the NTSB or FAA let them get away with removing emergency generators from a INTL airport?

I'd say someone is in trouble for this, but no one is ever held accountable for shite like this

from Entergy

”We are actively working to assess damages and restore power where we can at this time. The New Orleans airport is currently without power and we hope to have it restored in approximately two hours.“

Yea there’s not a good explanation for this. I’m betting someone will be in trouble.

So does that mean all traffic control lost communicating with planes in the air when they lost power?

The thought of that just made my stomach drop.

I was headed out at 10 am to DC for the WS game tonight. Looks like that isn't happening. Even if power is restored soon it’s going to be a total shite show at the airport all day.

The people at hobby told me the runways and tower have power but the terminal doesn't.

I wouldn’t give up on that just yet. You may cut it close but I think you’ll make it to DC

No ATC has back ups, plus Houston center is still the main authority routing flights in the area.

I would assume that losing a tower doesn’t mean planes lose contact with the ground. Another airport just takes over communication

For those that still want to defend MSY, we may be getting a new terminal but it’s run by the same management team.

Berg, if the admin made the decision to remove the back up generator as it’s being reported, Latoya should resign.

Someone's head should roll. It's not like we aren't still in hurricane season or anything. What an absolutely short sighed decision that probably saved next to no money

I’ve been here since 6:30 for a 8:00 flight to Vegas. It was pushed back to 9:00 and now 10:45. Everybody still has to go through security.

*** now pushed back to 12:30
