The purpose of it is about like having to wear a seatbelt, useless most of the time, only useful in emergency, and may not save you if you get in a wreck but you’d probably have it rather than not.

But sure you can use it whenever you feel like lowering prices for a few months, but you also have to have bought it in the past to sell it now, so you raised prices then to lower them now so it’s a net wash because there’s no bbl creation by the govt. There hasn’t been warnings that gas won’t be available in the last 18 months so there was no emergency to use if for.

But now we’re at $90/bbl making as much as we ever have and using as much as we ever have without a seatbelt.
We’re right at pre-Covid levels, July 2023 was 9,000 bopd short of the Nov 2019 record of 13,000,000 bopd, we’ve sold 300,000,000ish bbls in the last couple of years from the SPR and oil price is at $90/bbl. We also import 7,000,000 bopd because we consume 20,000,000+ bopd.

We are a net exporter of Hydrocarbons from LNG but still have to import 2x of what Iran makes in oil. All this to say, we’re really good at making oil but tGOAT at consuming it, so it’s probably not a good idea to sell a bunch to lower prices for a few months.
That’s not stored CO2, it’s a big gas field that makes natural CO2 similar to the ones Kinder and Exxon have… if anyone is wondering nature has stored CO2 in the ground safely for millions of years
4.8 MM bbls out of 1 well ain’t going to happen. Will it be economic, could be, but it’s not making 4.8 MM bbls.

Not sure what a unit equates to is but if it’s 200k for 1%, that would be pretty expensive.
NG Prices are starting to get more global by the year the more LNG we build which is why we’re at $8/mcf now, but it’s always cheaper to live where it’s produced. If I had to guess we’ll eventually build out too much LNG and some other supply will come on and crash the incentives to build more… likely right after the “more” is built

Yea the only real short term bull gas case is how quickly does the demand rebound which its starting to vs drilling lag based on how cash strapped the companies that own the Marcellus/Haynesville are but if there is a run up it’ll be short lived unless India starts using propane instead of wood to cook
I think we’ll get down to 9-10 mmbo/d sometime this year and that’s probably sustainable at 50-60$/bbl, really need some higher prices to break out of that range

Associated gas will fall with falling oil but if we stay in the 2.50-3 range we can sustain 100 bcf/d

This is probably short-mid term eventually we will run out of locations but may find some more too

The US is down 2 mmbo/d YoY don’t think it’s going to get back to 12-13 mmbo anytime soon with most of production coming from high decline shale a lot of which were uneconomical

Really the US oil industry has been the largest most effective non-profit organization as far as benefiting the public with low energy prices
Russia is upset partly because of the geopolitical aspects, the US has power to levy sanctions because of “near” energy independence. We’ve levied sanctions against their biggest oil company, also on Venezuela and Iran. A big reason reason we can do that is because we have record production here in the US, they want to take that power.

Favors can’t be a part of the long term plan, he’s pretty useless out there.

Short it, tastes like dog food
I pretty much watch any NFL game if it’s on but I opted for the Rally last night and never turned the game on
Stay on the North Rim longer drive but, greener and less busy, they have some cabins that are quaint and a lodge with restaurants/bar. It is colder on the North side however, I went last July so idk what the temps like in January.

I like personal capital, not as good at budgeting compared to Mint but really easy to use
