Mayor proposing red-light cameras be staple in Baton Rouge through 2023

The Mayor’s administration says the move is all about public safety and no extra costs to the parish.

Remember, no one can legally come after you for this, neither criminally nor civilly. In the USA you do not legally owe a debt to any company that you did not sign a promise to repay. Furthermore, there is no proof of who the driver of the vehicle was at the time the 'infraction' was committed. These companies would be fools to spend the money to get the social security number of the registered owner and put a collection on that person's credit report. They would be sued into oblivion for doing that without that person's signature on a promise to repay. These tickets should go right into the trash.

Do they bid out these services or do they just automatically renew these deals?

If everyone stopped paying them the company would remove the cameras. My wife has a few that are years old.

I’ve seen more wrecks caused by people slamming on their brakes to avoid a red light camera than people flying through a red light and getting hit.

I'd go further and say that if you do pay the fine then you're actually doing harm to the city by giving companies incentive to continue it. It only stops if everyone tells them to shove it up their arse.

Or flooring it because the light turns yellow. That one at Sherwood and Coursey is the worst.

If they're keeping the same deal then the city barely sees a dime and the company running the scam basically keeps everything.

There's a good reason the company runs the ticketing program "at no cost to the city."

Doesn't SWB know that the residents of the new BR'r don't have any monies to pay for these tickets?

Can someone put up a map of all the red light camera locations so we can make sure they are diversely distributed around the city?

She's gonna have new ones installed around the perimeter of St George.

When can we vote her out of office?

Also, since she is technically Parish President or whatever, do St. Georgians still get to vote in the Mayoral election? I hope so.
