I just don't think Eddie can keep JBE from that extra 4%

Not everyone is a partisan zealot, and Eddie is perhaps even less photogenic than google-eyed Edwards. Plus, this is the runoff. Moderates and unaffiliated voters have only his horrible ads and Trump groupie lip service to go on, and those things are more repellent than attractive to them.

The Trump purity issue that got him the edge is the same thing that will limit him in a general election. Super partisan only works in the primary, and works against a candidate in the general.

I'm voting R because JBE has been horrible, but I do believe the right wing purity thing and Eddie's general weenie-ness just got him re-elected.

Hope I'm wrong.

If JBE wins next month, it'll be because of some Abraham supporter holdouts. Vast majority are gonna do the right thing and vote Rispone. Others, you've seen on this board, are filth.

It will be a tough fight and JBE might very will win. BUT...

One of the biggest hurdles for Rispone was name recognition. Now he has extra time and the media will have to talk about him.

The next election will be a lower turnout one. That helps too. Esp if Trump comes down again and gives a full throated endorsement ("he's a businessman like me").

He also got Abraham's endorsement so no infighting.

Rispone has a hill to climb, no doubt, but it's not a mountain.

JBE is a strong choice. Pro-life, Pro-2A, and Pro-budget surplus. He corrected all of Jindal’s wrongs!

Someone had a stat for me earlier today: Something like no incumbent LA governor whose reelection went to a runoff has ever been reelected. Not sure how accurate that is. But, I think this runoff will be closer than we expect. Certainly closer than it should be in a fully MAGA state like LA.

What reason do you have to vote for the incumbent in the runoff if you didn't vote for him in the primary?

This isn't like 2015 when people switched over to give a new guy their vote after not voting for JBE in the primary.. JBE is who he is and defined by the last four years now.

He was great in the debates
He's a business man
He's an outsider
He's not JBE

Those are four strong things.

Y’all are being so stupid about this. Get over it and vote together or you deserve another scoop of what you’ve been serving yourself.

It will be very tight unless there’s a surprise along the way. I’d rather be in Rispone’s position than JBE’s tho - especially if Trump gets heavily involved

JBE turns a Jindal multi-billion dollar deficit into a half-billion dollar surplus. And is pro- life and pro-second amendment. Voting for Rispone? Neaux!

The electorate from one point in time to another is never the same.

A significantly different group will be voting. Some will who didn't, some won't who did. It seems close enough that turning out the right ones seems like it would matter.

Well, I admit having a personal and business relationship with JBE, and call him friend. And I don't know much about La. economic policy other than the usual tax and spend thing. I do look forward to hearing a Debate, with subjects like Border Security/Wall...ICE...Sanctuary Cities...and how the Candidates feel re the Dems fraudulent *Investigation* obstruction of Trump's agenda - especially Infrastructure. Let the people vote and make an educated choice.

I also know that JB is a politician, from a long line of politicos in his Family. And I also know that JB's electoral fate rest upon the turn out of the Black vote. And that Ad about the sexual predator Hire by JB, with the Black Lady who was victimized by JB's Guy...is powerful. It will hurt re Black turnout. That 4 points will be like getting 4 to beat Saban. Hard row to hoe.

JBE would have to get 15% of Abraham's votes. I don't see that happening.

Turn out is everything in the runoff. Republicans did so well across the board, I'd be slightly more surprised if Rispone doesn't pull it off.

Eddie Rispone is the single, weirdest Republican candidate for governor I’ve ever seen. The incumbent is no day at the beach either, but he’s in the party where 40 % of the registered voters will vote 95% Democrat.

here's the deal. If the R's vote for their ticket it's a done deal. They could had voted for Honor Code Saturday but they didn't. Libs are very good at rallying around their ilk even if it's not the candidate of choice. I personally didn't near the gap between Eddie and Abe as I do both vs gubna Roberto Boucher.

I hope you are wrong too, but I think you are right. If JBE got less than 45% Rispone might have had a chance, but at 47% I don't see how he doesn't get re-elected.
