the first implosion will be the booms which will fold down vertically alongside the upright crane structure. Aren’t the booms hanging over the building so how would that go?...

That's what I am questioning. the jibs are long and over the building. Unless they are shearing the jib I can't see it working as described.
Well we kinda saw this coming.

think the logic was the cranes were unattached to the building

Need John Madden and his graphics to give us a slow mo explanation

To me looks like the most dangerous part, the counter weights, fell inward and landed on the hard rock wreckage. Main portion of the taller tower fell straight into Rampart, thanks to the counter weights bumping it inward. Smaller part of that tower looks like it could have scraped the back of the Saenger but really can’t tell.

The shorter tower demo was completely a failure

gotta imagine that gas line was cut off and emptied well away from the building.

I mean this is New Orleans were talking about... do you expect that level of competence?

WWL said gas, water, and electric have been shut off to the area for a few days now and that crews made sure the gas lines were empty

Any engineers here have an explanation on why they didn’t just implode the whole
Building with the cranes coming down on top of it?

It would take a month or more to set up for a demo like that.

I don’t believe the parties involved have written off the entire structure as of yet. Even if they did who pays and is responsible has to be decided.

They are probably lucky that one on the right got caught up on the steel structure as it looks like it was headed straight back toward the buildings behind it.

Construction company and architect are responsible baw. The building should be condemned as a public hazard

Theres 2 bodies in there. One body had a monitor on it so they k ew where they were.

Sounds as though a full building demo is next, once bodies recovered

Contractor... They are responsible during construction. Engineer and Architect once it is done.

Well the crane is shorter than it was before so let’s celebrate that as a success!

Man we’ve been round and round on that earlier in the thread.

Go read up.

You’re not going to see either party raise their hand and say to send them the bill....
