This whole cluster frick needs to be brought down.

Is there such a thing as engineering malfeasance?

it's a success b/c the counterweights are down, neither the Saenger nor the NOAC were damaged, and there's no new injuries

The part on Rampart should be somewhat easy to handle.

Wow the spin is on. Hooray! We didn’t destroy a historical landmark so it’s a great success!

Holy shite it really is buried AT LEAST 20 feet into the street, I didn't notice that the mast comes to a point at least 20 ft above the cab.

If you watch the street level video that entire point is buried like a giant lawn dart

How far did that crane sling the ball hook? Looked like something out of the last defense of Helm’s Deep.

While not perfect it seems to have ended with an acceptable result. I get all of the NOLA jokes but it’s not like they said “we got this” and had the S&WB coordinating this thing. The engineers brought in said they had never seen a situation like this before.

I don’t believe the parties involved have written off the entire structure as of yet.

They’re going to have to. Who’s going to want to stay there if they don’t? The building will sit empty.

yeah... frick that... if a building collapsed during construction and wasn't torn down and restarted from scratch... I don't ever want to stay here

They also had imperfect data about what was left of the hotel.

I suspect the goal was to make the cleanup easier without any collateral damage.

because they are not engineers, printed them diploma off of “diplomas are us”...

that’s why they ain’t seen nothing like it......

the crane stuck 20 ft deep on rampart, will improve the drainage in that area though...
