She's also the Parish President in addition to the mayor. Thus, I guess you could argue its something that involves her since she would be the President over St. George (at least presumptive). Whether or not it is "ethical" for a sitting Parish President to campaign on the issue, I don't know?

But the real question has to be asked (or at least should be asked) is why are people who don't live in the proposed area so adamantly against it? The answer is because it negatively affects them. How does it negatively affect a completely different city? Follow the money.

If St. George were such a horrible idea, then the opponents living in BR proper shouldn't care, right? It will be their "stupid" neighbors to the Southeast choosing to punish themselves. That should be a boon for BR because once the people/businesses in St. George realize their mistake, they'd come running back to the City of BR. And EBR would still be getting St. George's parish taxes, so it would be a win win for BR. What's the saying? If your opponent is digging a hole, let him?

Yet, rather than reaping the rewards on the back end of the St. George "mistake", the mayor and are ilk are DESPERATELY trying to prevent the event from even happening. Curious, right? And don't fall for the propaganda. It's not because they think "we are better together".

Sometimes the best way to figure out if an idea is good or not is to see who is opposed to it.

As the BR city Mayor, I understand her concern.
As the Parish President, it shouldn't matter to her at all. She should have been doing her job for the unincorporated citizens all along.

Just more evidence that she only cares about the tax dollars from StG.

2 more days!!!

I'm for St. George and want SWB out in 2020.

But just because she's an elected official doesn't mean she loses her personal beliefs as a citizen. It'd be unethical for her to be doing such without taking leave time to campaign, though.

Also likely the first time she's set foot in that neighborhood since being elected.

Time to deconsolidate East Baton Rouge. Let City of Baton Rouge stand on its own.

That neighborhood is south of I-10/ I-12. She doesn’t give a damn about that area, except for what they’re paying in.

My primary annoyance about the St. George incorporation is that it is simply drawing a line through what any rational person would think was Baton Rouge if they were looking at a street map.

Not really any different with the way Kenner/Metairie/New Orleans all blend together. Metairie to New Orleans is more obvious because of architecture but Kenner to Metairie isn't perceivable at all except to the local.

Exactly, she thinks the dollars are better together because she's the one that gets to spend them.

Day late and a dollar short. If she had been this concerned about the south side of the parish in the beginning she wouldn’t have to be out there begging people not to vote for incorporation.

She has internal polling that has incorporation passing by landslide. This is a last minute Hail Mary. I wonder if she needed GPS to find Wimbledon?
