St. George will pass easily as long as proponents show up to vote. I hope to awake from my blackout on Saturday evening to see that the City of St. George has been born.

My guess is that he was asking if 2 On Your Side was finally covering a story that wasn’t in her district.

My primary annoyance about the St. George incorporation is that it is simply drawing a line through what any rational person would think was Baton Rouge

So? Simply put, EBR needs to be broken up into multiple cities and a parish gov't. Giving to much power to a Mayor-President is silly and always has been.

If so, it'll surpass the 2007 USC announcement!

I’m betting she didn’t knock on many doors.
It is probably just a photo op.

Sure you do.

Not really any different with the way Kenner/Metairie/New Orleans all blend together. Metairie to New Orleans is more obvious because of architecture but Kenner to Metairie isn't perceivable at all except to the local.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t those cities exist before essentially growing into one another? If so, I would view that as quite different from a new incorporation taking a bite out of an existing city’s contiguous growth.

My primary annoyance about the St. George incorporation is that it is simply drawing a line through what any rational person would think was Baton Rouge if they were looking at a street map. Zachary was a separate town over a hundred years ago. Zachary, Baker, and Central all feel as though you have moved through some relatively empty space when driving from Baton Rouge to those cities.

St. George reaches far beyond what would rationally make sense as their border to reach into Baton Rouge for business tax revenue, businesses that are there because the city of Baton Rouge exists, not because the village of St. George existed.

Were it not for that, I would have no issue with their incorporating. Not that my opinion on the subject matters. It would simply be nice if St. George supporters were a bit more honest about that.

Have you ever driven in Los Angeles county California? There are 88 cities in that one county and believe me there are no void spaces between them. StG will be fine man.

So I think it’s silly that your neighbor across the street from you in an urban space would live in a different city. I’m some situations, it happens because two cities grew into one another. Doing it on purpose seems absurd.

I called it annoying that a contiguous urban space is being carved up artificially. I don’t know why people are acting like I said I fricked their mothers

It is already carved up artificially and the city of BR has shown that it doesn’t want any more residential areas because they add costs without really adding tax revenue.

30 years of commercial growth and outflow from BR to unincorporated EBR created this clusterfrick. St George incorporating can’t make it any worse.
