Was it New England that went undefeated only to lose the Super Bowl? I want the ring, not the record for this team.

You mean 2011 LSU?

I had that year erased from my memory with shock treatments and alcohol.

I think we need to see the full season to make that statement. We play like this all season, I’m with you but we’ve got at least 11, hopefully 14, more tests to take.

I think so. Best QB in our history and might be best defense

I’d love to see this team take on the ‘89 49ers. It would be a great game. Two complete teams!

No. The offensive line is a major concern in huge games

Our rushing stats were horrible dude. Our defense didn’t have to defend any sort of passing attack at all. Let’s see what those two areas look like after Saturday first. Our offense was fun to watch. That’s about all we learned.

I'm one of the most optimistic fans I know. But, damn! Slow down! It's just one game! Let's enjoy watching this thing unfold. We can re-evaluate that much later in the season.

I wouldn't put this team in the top 10 at this time. 1 game, against an inferior opponent, does not mean a damn thing. A team must prove itself over the course of a full season. Even though we saw no glaring weaknesses Saturday, I guarantee you there will be an offensive and/or defensive coordinator this season that will find one. How this team, this staff and these players handle that says as much about this team as anything else. 2003, 2007 teams were mentally tough and could handle adversity with calm intense-resolve. We still have yet to see how this team handles that. We all saw what happened to the 2011 team when faced with adversity. Players didn't play up to their capabilities, coaches proved they were not adequate to compete with their adversaries. The 2011 team is probably the most talented team I've ever seen at LSU, and they are not in my top 3. Having talent does not always equate to winning. We will see where this team goes on that list after the season.

Maybe, maybe not. Too soon to tell. The question is, will we beat Bama. As an Austin resident, it pains me to say it, but If it came to it I would take a road loss to Texas in exchange for a Bama victory.

Even with that game that I can’t forget the 2011 squad was probably the best LSU team ever and one of the best ever college football teams.

Potential is there for a GREAT season. NO doubt. Tigers looked sound in all phases of the game: offense, defense, and special teams. IF..... everyone stays healthy and the d-line and o-lines continue to dominate it's possible. LSU has the skilled position players to compete and WIN against any team in the country. Our toughest opponents (if you look at rankings) are away games so we'll see. I like our chances. Can't wait for Sat. night in Austin, TX.
