Ryan Clark was on 104.5 yesterday giving a 5 minute speech about how awesome Nick Saban is as a coach.

He was also at an LSU practice and then went on twitter apologizing for not believing in Burrow and said Burrow is the real deal.

He's biased as a former player but not as a former Saban player or former LSU player.

Haven't been all "I formation", but the playcalling/ success hasn't been any more impressive. Still beat up on weak teams with the run game, listen to how we are just saving the good shite for Bama, and still lay an egg when they play Bama. Running dive plays out of shotgun and throwing 1/2 receiver route hail marys on third down will never cut it. Bringing in extra blockers and no receivers will always create congestion and confusion for blocking schemes. The field has to be spread, which lessens the amount of rushers that the defense usually brings. Spreading the field also creates more opportunities for open receivers and even opens the middle of the field for a rushing attack. 5-7 step drop routes on third down is not an intelligent strategy. Everyone knows that you have to pass, defense sends more than you can block, and the rush is there before anyone can find themselves open. Spread the field, 4-5 man routes, and get the ball out quickly. That is the way to defeat a high quality pass rush. Either the whole idea of the LSU offense changes or the outcomes will never change. Offensive rankings will remain in the 60-80 range, touchdown efficiency will remain low, red zone efficiency will remain abysmal, and the trend of "0" points against Bama will remain the same. Until the lazy arse play calling is changed, then the narrative will not. I hope and pray that Brady will be allowed to truly insert ideas. He has been around very aggressive offensive systems, so hopefully he was able to pick things up. I would rather roll the dice with a young/knowledgeable guy like Brady, although unproven, rather than a guy like Ensminger who has proven to fail everywhere he has been.

"""We don't want to put our defense in a bad position by having quick drives that don't end up with points."""

This is so stupid! Les Miles' run, run, pass punt was even worse on the defense. This spread offense rarely sees a 3 and out, but like I said, Les had MANY of those on 4-5 consecutive possessions. Shorter passes to many choices of WR = completions and moving the chains, and the RB from 3-4 WR sets has more room because less people stack the box. So I guess you want the cloud of dust offense?

I want 10 drives where we score 7 times- 5 TD's and 3 FG and max drives are just 3 minutes. That is 1/2 of the game we have possession and score 44 points. But, we will have long possessions because short passes tackled in the middle of the field let's time run out and make possession time more.

We are 2-3 deep on defense and they can handle a few 3 and outs, but we will not have many.

Spears and Booger are LSU fans first, they are also Saban fans which is understandable since he coached them.

Booger was starting his second NFL season when Saban coached his first game at LSU in 2000.

50/50 against TX...

i would be very surprised if we end the year at 50/50. A lot of people say this (not talking this post), but thats a LOT of throws.

Last year, we were 41/59

For comparison, Clemson was 47/53 last year, which equaled 34 passes a game vs 38 rushes. I can see LSU trying to mirror something like that.

May want to edit OP.

I see a lot of people getting confused over the Spears and Booger quotes.

Spears had nothing but praise at the spring game and said we looked better than ever.

Well everyone across CFB Espn Sec network SDS 247 etc etc has LSU winning 10-11. Vegas is only one if seen had LSU winning 9. Spears and Booger both wanted Les gone and believed in the O hire. Last year was crucial for O and LSU as a program with how competitive the Sec is. He far exceeded expectations. Joe B saved LSU. And come Tracy. W/O either we lucky to go 8-4. We finished 6th. Imo O and staff did an outstanding job overall. Roster management game management etc. We got a shot this year to win 10-11 with a brutal schedule. Got to have improved Oline play obviously

Those comments from Spears and Booger were before the start of last season. Most people agreed with them after watching the MS State game in 2017.

The rant is schizo. Bashes "the shrimp-boat captain" for three years. Then bashes Spears and Booger for not blindly pumping LSU. Hates Tiger Ree for blindly pumping LSU.

True

Just like Burrow seems to continue to show loyalty to Les

When last year? That was the consensus view and it was totally reasonable given the questions on offense particularly QB. Most of you being such blind homers you are failing to grasp just how fortunate we were that Burrow was available and actually turned out to be good. Go look at last season again and take Burrow out, we would have been beyond lucky to be even 7-5.

You do realize that “the rant” isn’t one voice right? Different posters have different opinions

No that was the consensus to lazy national analysis who just looked at Orgeron and pegged 6-7 wins. People who knew the roster didn’t say we were goin to be trash.

This is 100% false. Multiple locals were also predicting 7-5 even 6-6 especially before Burrow signed. The roster you are referring to had no returning RB with a career TD for the first time since the mid 70s no experienced WR and depth questions on both lines. Being a blind homer is also lazy.

Truthfully, you never know how good you may be until you line up on the field in real action. Oregon thought Giles was going to be a really good WR and punt returner for LSU from practice, but it didn't turn out anything like that. I'm very optimistic, but the real action will tell the story.

It's not a big deal.. It's just a 45 second clip they play for each team in the fpi top 5 or so. They do a different team daily and they run it on there different shows like get up and sportscenter
