Given the information available people are wondering why other marques are priced so much higher on their mid-engine models.

Of particular focus is the Ford GT, which on paper doesn’t seem to be quite as fast while costing around $500,000. (C8 base is $60,000)

New Toyota Supra is predicted to be DOA, cooling interest in the big Mustang whatever, and a put out to pasture NSX.

If you buy a c8 base you're wasting your money. The ZR1 version will 100% appreciate though

If i'm being honest, I almost don't even consider that a corvette, and I mean that in a completely good way. It looks incredible, but it such a giant shift for the car.

Chevy used an existing motor in the LS2. That helps costs haha.

I will probably buy this car in a year or so.

The Supra and RC-F are now distant memories for me.

Isn't the new gt500 a drag focused car? Not really competing with the corvette.

I really really want one of these.

I'm sure a very big reason for price differences is materials used.

Corvette = Fiberglass and plastic
Ferrari/lambo/Mclaren = carbon fiber

Others are saying this. Important to think there will maybe be a bunch of base models running around.

They took the bumper/valence styling of a lambo and the overall body style from Ferrari and putting the corvette label on the back.

Its really just bringing back the Corvair, as in Corvair Monza GT.

The C8 feels more like a modern day NSX than the modern day NSX.

Ford GT

On paper, the standard metric for know-nothings. One glaringly obvious difference is the fact Ford will only make a very limited number of these GT's and they are heavily customized to the buyer. GM will pump out thousands of Corvettes to anyone willing to buy. C8 Corvettes will be up for sale in corners of shady used car lots 10 years from now. Also, if you think anyone is getting a base C8 for MSRP then you might want to actually call a dealership and ask.

i would buy a used one for under $20k in about 10 years

most vette owners dont drive them much any way so it should still be under 100k miles
