Oh I thought they were trying to compete with the hellcat/demon with the gt500 after doing the gt350.
I stand corrected

C8 Corvettes will be up for sale in corners of shady used car lots 10 years from now
You expect this vehicle to have a large market of buyers? 60k is still 60k.
This isnt like a camry or 30k mustang. It's obtainable to Upper Middle Class.
Some baw from the trailer park or hood isn't going to be able to buy this
Im interested in GM's estimated sold per year.

You're asking why the GT cost almost 10x as much as the C8?
Posted on 7/25/19 at 11:29 am to 50_Tiger
The C7 averaged about 25000 sold per year.
Posted on 7/25/19 at 11:29 am to 50_Tiger
they sell anywhere from 12k-40k a year. in comparison the toyota camry sells 30-40k a month

It really is a great move by Chevy. Lots of guys who want the supercar look but can't or won't shell out six figures will probably jump at it. The styling is on point and even a base model will turn heads, something that a lot of $60k cars cannot do. I think it could hit the "third car" market for a lot of people with disposable income.

My father called a local large Chevy dealership, asked about allotments and markup on the C8's. These are going to be nearly $100k for those wanting to be the first buyers. Told my dad to wait until at least the second year of production, after the inevitable initial problems are discovered and dealt with and they'll be closer to MSRP.

So using your figures (I think youre right), at the highest end for every 12 camry's you see on the road there will be 1 C8. I think 20-25k like the other poster stated for the C7 sounds about right for the C8. So probably 24 to 1 ratio

Some are. If an alien showed up how would you explain the cost difference?

I am, production numbers/units sold very based upon new model releases. they drop down to 12-15k for a few years then bump up with new releases

Dumbest thing said on TD today...
Yeah, cause the average person drives a $60K car that's built for 2 people...

Yea, but 25k per year sold is a TON for a mid engined car with supercar level performance and styling.
Posted on 7/25/19 at 11:38 am to weagle99
The Italian, Japanese, British, and German sports cars under $150,000 are all going to have to be re-thought.
The C8 is a game changer.

Very few will be sold at their base price.
And the switch to a mid engine chassis is practically permanent. All future generations of Corvette for the foreseeable future will have a mid engined design (electric or gasoline powered) and will likely use this same chassis for a long time.

No idea of the accuracy, but someone in the other thread claimed that 15k sold/year was the break even point. Looks like Chevy smashes that most of the time.

It is. in comparison the high production Lambo and Ferrari make 1-2k a year

Well, the GT is all carbon fiber monocoque with extremely complex bodywork not to mention all the other lightweight materials used in the frame. 650 HP from a 3.5L V6 with racing suspension, brakes, and other components pretty much makes it a street legal high end racecar.

beautiful, but the interior kills it for me
