The last C7 Vette was sold at auction for $2.7 million.

A great time to be a car guy...

Affordable performance is everywhere and for some decent money, you can buy a track car with a warranty.

I'll bet money the C8 brings that number down.

Doubtful.

Curious how that number compares with 911, etc. Probably very similar.

My parents live in a gated golf subdivision; Corvette, Porche, NSX, Ferrari, Ford GT, Bentley....all the drivers cut from the same cloth. The only guy I knew closer to my age had a twin-turbo Viper and an older Lotus.

Not even close, I just see the same dumb arguments made over and over again and it would be nice for some to grow out of it.

Tell us again how great those first gen 5.4's are.

Yeah, donated by GM for a charity auction and for the last of its kind. The Ford GT was #48/1000 and was a normal Mecum auto auction from a private owner. Tell me what #48 C8 Vette sells for and you'll see the point.

When you have to resort to misrepresentation then you truly don't have the brains for the discussion...

I had enough brains to get of that POS.

Love the 6.7, I'm on my 2nd.

That 2006 5.4 was garbage though. I guess the 2nd gen was better, obviously.

My point being that the mid-level C8 will very likely superior to that for a lot less money.

Once again, magazine racer, two different cars with two different buyers in mind. You think C8's aren't going for $100k with dealership mark-ups when they get on the lots? GT500 has a $70k MSRP but nobody with a shred of knowledge is going to expect a car with a 5000 model production limit is actually going to buy one at MSRP.

Are they going to build 5000 GT500s?

No, the first gen 2V 5.4's and any gen 4V 5.4's are the better variants. I could get into the technical details but well beyond you.

Bohn in NOLA only got allocated.

That's good news, no ADM.

Full MSRP though.

No need to be an arse, we've talked about it before.

You know your stuff about those engines that's why I brought it up.

Fun time to be a car guy . I might have to consider selling the GTR once they release the Z06 or ZR1.

the fact that the NFGT was even brought up in this thread is humorous to me.

Nissan needs to quit screwing around and bring out the R36. Godzilla, while stout, is long in the tooth and the competition is too stiff. I just hope Nissan doesn't screw it up like Acura did the NSX.

I agree. While the platform is still amazingly fun, it takes a good bit of mods to keep from getting gapped on the streets of Mexico. I've got a bunch of $$ in mine, but some of the new cars are starting to look more appealing. Especially now that you can get in a DCT car with launch control for cheaper and cheaper. That was a huge selling point to the GTR for me. Being able to launch on the street and go stop light to stop light is what i wanted. I hope they get the R36 right and change the game like the R35 did.

Need to take notes from Toyota and Acura and realize that hyping the new version of their most iconic name in their portfolio for nearly a decade before release is a recipe for disaster.

The horsepower / performance race has gone insane in recent years but it feels like Toyota/acura committed to certain performance numbers like 5 years before the actual release. Numbers that would have been pretty good back then, but pedestrian versus their competition at launch.
