Um.

Why do I feel like you are a special kind of stupid that expects to see an actual flag even if we hit it with a telescope with sufficient resolution as opposed to essentially a white slit from the upright flag.

The most that you can get along those lines is that they can show you pictures from earth/satellites of the lander and the tracks of the rovers.

But that doesn’t matter. Don’t deny anymore you think moon landing might have been a hoax.

Worried about where the stars are but not the sun? Haha. Look at the tinted visors the astronauts have. The camera has something similar.

And to reiterate this guy's answer, ITS ALWAYS DAYTIME at that spot on the moon. Hence, The Dark Side of the Moon.

First of all, we're going to assume that all the flags are mostly bleached white by now.

Second, from a resolution standpoint, I'm not sure such photography is reasonable.

However, we did send the LRO to the Moon in 2009. It took some stunning pictures of the landing sites.

Apollo 12 for example (RIP for the crew, now that even Al Bean has left us.):

(ETA: And third, it's embarrassing, but 11 had the flag too close to the spacecraft, so they blew the flag over on ascent from the lunar surface.)

It was daytime on the Moon, you fricking retard. There are few dumber people than Moon Landing conspiracy theorists.

I completely believed we landed on the moon. No conspiracy theorist here.

But, who took the photos? I watched the CBS special the other night and there were quite a few photos that I couldn’t figure out how the picture of the first step on the moon was taken from ten feet away in the other direction of the craft.

We left a fricking mirror on there that even an average astronomer can find. I’ve personally seen the mirror through a telescope. And do you really think Russia wouldn’t have exposed this by now?

You were already one of the dumbest Poliboard posters, so great job lowering your IQ even further by exposing yourself as a Moon Landing conspiracy nut.

Mounting a camera on an arm attached to the lander is completely out of our technical capabilities.

You want me to tell you how the guy with the top hat pulls a rabbit out of it?

ETA: Maybe we start simpler. Want me to tell you how "got your nose" works?

Dynamic range. A single exposure cannot capture the full range of light that is available. Part of a good photo is knowing what to expose for.

Also, a drum scan of a 6x6 film negative can produce a higher resolution image than many cameras available today.

There have been several moon orbiting craft including the recent Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter which took many pictures of the landing sites.

That was Moon daytime.

It's a little different given that the moon has no atmosphere and therefore a black "sky" during the day. I'm sure the astronauts could see stars if they were looking away from the sun.
