Some people are thinking Hayes won't spend much time in the GLeague this year, I think some of you haven't realized just how much depth this team has compared to previous years. I don't see Hayes and maybe even NAW getting significant minutes to develop unless it's with the Bayhawks.

You can only have 13 active players each game. Below is the current roster. I assume Moore/Wood get traded or at the very least Wood gets cut, but whoever Moore gets traded for will surely be good enough to be on the active roster every night.

Looking at the depth chart, I think it will be a position battle between Okafor/Hayes, Hart/Miller and Jackson/NAW to be on the active roster each night. For the first half of the season at least I'd expect the rookies to lose those battles and be better off getting experience in the GLeague.

1 ) Lonzo
2 ) Jrue
3 ) Ingram
4 ) Zion
5 ) Favors
6 ) Redick
7 ) Melli
8 ) Moore
9 ) Kenrich
10) Hart
11) Jackson
12) Okafor
13) Wood
14) Miller
15) NAW
16) Hayes

Wood, Jackson, Kenrich

You absolutely must give NAW and Hayes minutes

dear god look at it. look at it

i honestly dont think Hayes and NAW will be inactive. If they arent going to play they will be given reps in the GLeague. They are only on the roster if they intend to play.

I give Hayes 2-3 months before he takes Okafor's minutes. NAW has to be on this roster too.
Wood is gone
Hayes, NAW, Kenrich are inactive
Trade deadline, Moore and Jackson are moved
Hays takes Okafor's minutes, Okafor goes inactive
NAW takes Jackson's spot

After listening to Griffins interview today I don’t think he believes Hayes is NBA ready in the strength department. I’m sure he will get some minutes but not a lot.

I can't see NAW and Hayes being sent to the G league. I think both will get their minutes and will be big contributors on this team.

I think the most least talked player and biggest questionmark this off-season is Nicolo Melli, I mean can we justify playing him over Okafor or Hayes? I would like to have a big men rotation of Hayes, Zion, Oak, and Favors. But then again Langdon has demonstrated he's a scouting prodigy so I might be wrong to doubt him.

Williams ain’t making the team, the other guy would probably be Okafor or Wood. Unlesss Melli is garbage

I think Wood is probably gone (actually hate to see it) and then Kenrich and the 3rd center or Miller will be the two inactives. It will probably fluctuate often with matchups and injuries.

I’d assume the minutes will break down something like:

PG - Lonzo 32 Jrue 16
SG - Jrue 18 Redick 28
SF - Ingram 24
PF - Zion 24 Ingram 10 Melli 14
C - Favors 28 Zion 10 Okafor/Hayes 10

That would leave about 26 minutes a game to split between NAW, Hart, Moore, and Jackson. Possibly more if you cut Melli’s minutes and go more small ball. Going to be very interesting to see because I think all 4 are about the same level of player as of now and provide different things at the 1-3. Moore is probably the best of them right now, but the least likely to be part of the teams future.

Memeber when we had a 7 man rotation? Now we are fighting over who’s going to be inactive. Quite an off-season.

Do you really think Williams and Moore are going to be above Hart in the rotation? I think his defense/ball handling will put him ahead of both of those players in the rotation.

I could see Hayes and Miller/Williams (Wood or Okafor being cut) as the typical inactives.

OP got downvoted but he’s right. We’re all pumped about these rookies and rightfully so but it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to be immediate contributors.

This shite is so complicated to follow. Last week someone on here was saying that there is no longer the active/inactive distinction and that it was just 15 on the roster plus 2 two way players.

I'm guessing that guy was wrong and the inactive designation still stands?

Honestly its hard to say. Lots can happen. I think we may trade Moore similarly to how we did Mirotic. Where we cut his salary and took back minimal salary (stanley Johnson) and got second rounders. Miller also is thought by many to have been resigned for as much as he was with the intent of possibly packaging his salary and a Guy like moore and a first for another impact player. Idk about how much we use Melli, He was signed for too much to not see any playing time, but also dont know much about him besides he is supposed to be a good veteran presence with a good perimeter shot, but doesnt that warrant the 7th spot on the team in minutes? Kenrich is very cheap and so is worth keeping around but i think you try to stagger his minutes for Hayes and Walker if they can at least show glimpses of what they did the other night. Ultimately Hayes and Walker if they prove valuable enough to get some playing time should see more minutes than at least 3 of Miller, Wood, Kenrich, Melli, and possibly okafor as none of these guys most likely have a long future with the team. Okafor has the best chance to stick i think longer term just bc of his ceiling. As for the others, None of those guys will likely be on the team 2 seasons from now. I think those guys are all insurance for us if the rooks arent ready to contribute anything in the early going but if they come in more ready than initially thought they should get more mins then those other guys IMO.
