This story breaks my heart. I want to weep when I read it. And never let my four year old go beyond my arm's reach. What a horrible tragedy.

I ask again, will people ever take personal responsibility for their actions? Not saying I know what the deal is with the cruise ship and maybe they are partly at fault (I don't know enough to say or not) but everyone is quick to sue someone and not be accountable for their own actions!

Cruise line is not at fault. No issues in the area where the child was dropped from. Grandpa set child up on railing, where child should not be.

This would seem to be the case considering no one else fell from the 11th floor

Lawsuit field against cruise line.

I truly feel for the family, I couldn't imagine ever losing a child and the pain that follows. However, this is purely because cruse lines have deep pockets. The cruse line will more than likely settle out of court for an undisclosed amount to avoid bad press although the negligence is on gramps for being a complete idiot.

The family is claiming the grandfather didn’t dangle her out the window. They say that’s the cruise line’s story.
They say the child walked over to the window, that was partially open, and pushed it open and fell out.

No, they are saying the grandpa thought there was glass there when the window was open. He held her up.

quote:

The child's maternal grandfather, Salvatore Aiello, was allegedly holding her on a railing he believed was backed by glass so she could look outside, when she leaned forward to bang on the window and toppled out of an open panel. She fell an estimated 150 feet from one of the ship's highest decks, hitting an awning before landing on the concrete dock below and dying on impact.

Wiegand told "Today" that she does not hold the elder accountable for his grand daughter's death, adding that he was "extremely hysterical" after the incident.
"The thing that he has repeatedly told us is, 'I believed that there was glass.' He will cry over and over and over," she explained. "(He's) very, very distraught. You can barely look at him without him crying. She was his best friend."

Here is a pic of where the kid fell from.

So the grandfather is saying he thought there was a piece of glass essentially right in front of his face that was so clear he couldn't see it? Even if the glass was opened, that's like blaming a hotel for falling out of an open window. How did you not know it was open in the first place?

Should have done a bac test on grandpa.

I guess, look at the pic I posted in an edit. They were saying it was in a kids play area too, that just looks like it is out on one of the decks. Does look like there is glass there some of the time from the glare coming off the glass.

Edit: camera in the shot too, so everything is most likely videotaped.

I just realized, maybe the window was "open" as in not locked but not actually open. I could sadly see that being the case here actually.

Gramps holds the kid up assuming the glass is fixed and does not open, then the toddler applies weight and the window opens and out falls the kid because Gramps is assuming the glass holds the kid.

There is a security camera in the picture above, I have to assume its most likely on video.

Yeah could see that, pic does give a little more plausibility to their story. Video will show what was going on. They monitor all places you can jump off boats now because of morons jumping off the boats infrequently.

Maybe, but they look like sliding windows.

Who's the bigger loser here?

Some dude who likes to post babe threads nearly everyday?

Or

Some dude who just can't resist posting a sick burn on the internet in a thread about a dead toddler in response to a father saying he doesn't trust someone around his kids?
