Was asked today if I had to pick 1 game for LSU to lose, which one would it be?

To me it’s not even a question. Lose a close one in Tuscaloosa. Win all the others and lose that one and you Backdoor into the playoff and get an extra week to rehab during the SECCG.

Is the question if LSU only loses 1 game? Then the answer would obviously be Texas because if LSU wins every other game they're in the playoff.

We're not Bama. No mulligan for us.

Lose to the sips, then run the table.

Let me get this right, you’re saying if we win every game but lose a close one in Tuscaloosa... we still don’t make the playoff??

We would probably still make it, but I agree with the poster above me. If you have to lose one you would want it to be Texas. With a loss to Texas and winning every other game including sec champ you are in

We possibly don't. Clemson undefeated in the ACC, then one of Big 12, PAC 12, Big 10, Notre Dame being undefeated and two of the other 4 having a one loss champion. Also add in UGA or Bama having their only loss in the SECCG and you have quite the options to pick from with LSU being in the mix.

Same can be said if LSU drops non conference game though.

Would probably think chances were better if LSU dropped an early game, then went on to beat Bama and win the SEC.

Lose to an eastern conference opponent, win the SEC Championship. No brainer.

Lose the first game to Texas. Nobody has ever run the table in the SEC and missed the playoff

Texas in a close game on the road.

Go 12-1, win the SEC, and you’re guaranteed a playoff spot.

The answer is Texas. Win out in the Sec and you are in the playoff and Bama needs help to get in.

Texas. If that’s our only loss we win the SEC and are in the playoff without question.

Perfect answer. We still make playoffs beating Bama and winning SEC. The rant would be the wild west with all of the shoot outs amongst the resident crazies on both sides. It would be something to behold.

Lose to Florida

I want to set Texas football back another 5 years after LSU gets through with them.

Losing to Florida means nothing if you win the rest of your games. Losing to Bama can still keep you out of the seccg.

Gonna go against the grain a bit here and say Mississippi State. It’s an October game against a decent opponent who is still bad enough that the loss can be considered a lapse in team motivation and concentration rather than a systemic issue. It’d be the closest thing to going undefeated. That said, this scenario assumes that Texas wins a lot of football games after their loss to LSU, because if they start to implode mid-season they’re going to be the one you want as the warm up write-off

Close loss on the he road at Texas. Then run the table and by seasons end LSU will be #1 in the nation before the SEC Championship game.

Exactly my line of thinking. Lose a close game away early in the season to an up and coming team. Win out in the SEC and LSU is in the CFP with the possibility to exact retribution on Texas if they make it.

Depends what other teams do. For instance, Undefeated Clemson, OSU, and Bama loses a close one in the SEC CG to an undefeated Georgia. Those 4 teams would be in over us.
