Am I the only one bothered by the misspelling in the title? It's been four days, OP change it.

I requested it to be changed already

I know it’s early.’just curious about possible replacements- this is just a bummer. RIP

#36 was laid to rest 6 hours ago, can we at least mourn his passing before worrying about possible HC replacements? When the time is right, Dr. Maggard will address the situation.

With all due respect, you can mourn and others can still have the conversation. Not everyone grieves the same way.

Get a grip dude. It’s a message board. We can talk and have empathy. Maybe it’s too early for you to be online.

Gotta be Matt Deggs.

It was just a question. You don’t have to answer it

I think Deggs is the obvious choice. If Scott Farmer was AD he'd probably already be here. Maggard hasnt disappointed with a hire yet so I'm sure he will be thorough.

Do you feel better now? How about many of us have been grieving for a week... I've shed plenty of real tears over it. I think it's ok to have the discussion and I'm certain the spirit of Robe is asking the same damn question.
I don't need your schedule to tell me when it's ok to discuss on an internet sports message board. Get off your virtue signaling high horse.

The AD was thinking about who to replace him with the day he died

I like to mix it up with the Cajun fans on here, but the truth is everyone has a great amount of respect for Tony Robichaux. He was a great coach, a great man, and a great representative for all of Louisiana. He will be missed.

What about the other coaches who where assistants for Robicheaux, who are the guys who went to Nicholl's and Sam Houston State? I think they would be in the conversation and would be wanting to come back to Lafayette.

Internet arguments are fun time wasters but it's important to be able to separate what's really important. A man's life is bigger than all of this. Puts a lot of silly sports meltdowns into perspective. No one should take these arguments personally. I certainly don't.
Seeing the thousands of people pour into his wake to pay respects really hit home. He lived a life that was profound and significant.

My guess would be that Bab would be the interim for a year but I don't know.
Everybody always assumed we would call Coach Deggs when Coach Robe stepped down but these are obviously different circumstances. It's harder to move forward in this situation.

I wonder if they will consider Jeff Willis. My boys have been to his camps, and the way he goes about things and the way he talks to the boys has been very very impressive. Seems in some ways to be from the same mold as Coach Robichaux.

No matter who they hire, I'd personally hate to be the person who has to follow Robe. I'd compare it to Smoke Laval replacing Bertman at LSU. Only in the sense that you are replacing a beloved legend. And given that this situation in particular is made even more difficult, because of Robe's sudden death. I hope the next guy is successful, but I wouldn't want to be him. The expectations are going to be an gigantic weight on his shoulders. Because you know, once the season starts, and gets going, the armchair coaches are going to come out saying, well Robe would have done this, that, xyz, etc., better than Deggs or whoever ends up there. And that will be completely unfair.

I would think he is in tune with possible replacements for everyone of his HC's, because you never know. I would think all good AD's do the same thing.
