Wow....was supposed to have a "complete recovery" after the first surgery a couple of days ago. Must have had complications with the surgery or a second heart attack since he had to have a second surgery.

I can't remember a time where he wasn't our coach. He's been the head man for 25 years. He stuck around when he could have left because he cared about being close to his family and he loved his community. A lot of coaches preach "family and community" but Coach Robe lived it. He was always someone you could be proud of because you know he was doing everything the right way. All of his players love him, all of the fans love him, and everybody in Acadiana should love him. He enriched our community and helped so many young boys become men. I'm so thankful for everything he did and extremely heartbroken for his family. The world lost one of the truly great ones. Rest in peace, Coach.

Man that just flat out sucks. That is a HUGE HUGE loss for the state of Louisiana, Baseball in this state, and especially in this area, and UL. That program and it's fanbase are going to have a hard time recovering from this.

Prayers to his family, and to that program. Yall lost a great man, and representative for the game and university.

I was told from a huge, major booster, that he was moved to Oschner's for a heart transplant due to the damage suffered to his heart. Whether that was from the heart attack or complications from a surgery I do not know. But I do know that the severity of the event was kept on the low, and the news that it was a minor event was false. I don't know why that was done, but it was false.

I’ve talked with Coach a few times years ago and he always stood out because of his attitude towards everyone, especially young kids. Sad sad news to hear. God bless you, sir.
