Michael Leaumont:

He always said he didn’t want to be remembered as a baseball coach, that God wouldn’t be standing at the gates of heaven with a radar gun and a tape measure to see if we’d get in. Remember him as the man he was. Not the coach he was.

This hurts... To the man who taught me endless life lessons.. who taught me the real meaning of life.. who believed me and helped me become the person I am today. Thank you for everything Coach Robe. Your teachings will live through us all. Rest In Paradise Coach

That 2014 team was legit. It's crazy Ole Miss of all teams went in there and beat them. The 2000 CWS run was pretty awesome with LSU on the other side of the bracket.

An old quote from Coach Deggs about coming to UL to work for Coach Robe

I hope he’ll be coming back.

My respect for Robe goes beyond baseball. From seeing him at Daily Mass at Our Lady of Wisdom and his unapologetic devotion to the faith, were examples of the type of man he was. He was a true man, with real priorities. I asked a priest who was close to the family if coach had received the last sacrament and the priest told me that three different times priests showed up and anointed him. He definitely had his bases covered on all fronts.

Just ran out of pitching in 2014. Most fun I've ever had watching a baseball team

I watched the Clemson game at the 2000 CWS at my friends house whose mom graduated from USL as it was called back in the day. We were losing our shite.

The 2014 Grinders.

Man, that team epitomized a Robe-esque group of guys who refused to quit and played with attitude. It’s those types of seasons that I’ll remember Robe as a coach. But listening to Robe in interviews and press conferences will help me to remember him as the God fearing man that he was.

If you have some time later this afternoon or tonight, here are several great audio's from Coach Robe about his philosophy on life. His ultimate goal was to make young men better brothers, sons, friends, and husbands. When college and baseball are eventually over with and you enter the real world, no one cares if you batted .398 and led the league in HR's. You're judged by your peers on how you treated people and if you made this world a better place. RIP Coach

Governor John Bel Edwards:

Coach Robichaux represented the best of Louisiana. For more than three decades, he was a great mentor who cared for his players on and off the field at both McNeese State and UL Lafayette. We lost an ambassador for our state today and we will miss him dearly. #lagov #lalege

Delgado CC Coach Joe Scheuermann:

In my occupation you meet and work with many different personalities. I can honestly say Coach Robe was a special one! He had a way of making his players not only respect the game but more importantly respect others. He taught the game of life through the game of baseball. 1of2

We sometimes forget that the real reason we coach is not about the W’s and L’s but about life. Thanks Tony for doing it the right way and not only influencing your players but also your peers!

May you Rest In Peace.

Our thoughts & prayers are with the Robichaux family &
@RaginCajunsBSB on what is a tough day for so many. Tony meant so much to Lafayette, to his players & coaches, & to the entire baseball world. He was a man of faith & truly guided his players to be better men. RIP, my friend.

Paul Mainieri:

"Tony was an outstanding coach, but he was an even greater molder of young men, and the positive impact he made upon his players is immeasurable."

“Tony and I shared a mutual respect that was reflected in the way our teams competed against one another over the years, and I will always cherish those matchups between the Cajuns and the Tigers. Tony lived a life of profound significance, and he will be missed by all of us.”

This is terrible. He was one of the best coaches in all of Louisiana's rich baseball history.

Coach Robe gave me the chance to make my dream a reality. He was a father figure to me when I needed one. The lessons he taught me and everyone he encountered will live on for years to come. Thank you coach for all you’ve done. #RestInParadise

Tyler Stover:

RIP Coach Robe... you will always be remembered as a hero to the community and to so many of us who were blessed with the opportunity to play for you. You were the perfect example of what it took to be a man despite what life throws at you.
