I never was a fan of Wesley's commentary, he always seemed overly critical of Pelican players.

I'm not sure. Just said that he can't stand working with him.

I already said I can't link a source because it's first hand knowledge.

God damnit

During an offseason of continual great news I was not prepared for this.

They should just bring back Gil if Wesley is leaving.

I am initiallly disappointed, but hesitantly optimistic.

Joel and David were almost a little too in sync last year. Commentary would often turn into jabs at the god awful officiating, which was nice to hear for awhile that someone as respected as Joel Meyers is just as annoyed as I am, but it might not be a bad thing if Daniels can kind of rein in the commentary on the officiating some.

For those that aren’t familiar with Daniels, he’s a pretty decent listen on SiriusXM NBA Radio as well as what’s been mentioned and if anything he feels even a little pessimistic towards the Pels in the past.

I just didn’t feel like the Meyers/Wesley duo was clicking last year like it had in years past. This news didn’t provide any level of shock to me.

If we lost Joel, I’d be frickING MELTING.

Wow this sucks. DW has become great at what he does, and I really love him and Joel together.

I like Daniels. His insights are genuine. I remember when people hated Wesley when he started out. I think Daniels will do well from day 1. He’s very comfortable on the air.

I knew that’d get dissected the way I worded it. They would often be willing to talk about the same subject like officiating for far too long. It just didn’t have that energetic appeal and organic energy to it.

To be fair to both men, last season was a gigantic shite sandwich for everyone involved and no one could have made that season entertaining to watch.

It just might be a positive to bring it into a different direction and bring new, fresh energy. Losing Joel would just destroy me on a few levels. I still have no idea how he’s part of our commentary team, but just like everything else this offseason, the best parts seem to be sticking around (we still have Joel/Jen) while the replaceable parts seem to be leaving.

I think Joel really enjoys where hes at. He has a huge role for this organization. He loves the city. And i feel like he's not trying to "advance his career" at this point.

He also gets to discuss non Pels hoops on a national platform on SiriusXM, so he gets to still talk about everything else around the league/talk to fans of other teams etc.

Fair enough. I chalked it up to the shitty situation surrounding AD. It was hard watching the games most night, calling it had to have been worse.

I've heard Daniels co-host with Joel on NBA Radio, and hearing Joel call him AD all the time was jarring. So get ready for it.

Was only half a season. Part of the Mike James trade.

Antonio Daniels was the original AD.

He did after show with Erin at times. He is a no nonsense guy who knows basketball.

I hate seeing David Wesley go.

frick. Gotta imagine it’s for coaching purposes. He did a stint with Baylor right? Loved his progress. Hope AD can step up because he isn’t great on the halftime stuff
