Y'all know he's not really that good, right? Portland fans will tell you he's very limited and often played soft. Who's minutes would want him taking?

Melli will be in that role and will have more of an impact. And Okafor and Hayes will also get mintues at C.

Myers Leonard is good in a limited role. He is a backup stretch C, nothing more. Currently he's Miami's 3rd string C (behind Bam Adebayo and Olynyk); the Pels could use his skillset. He's a legit 7-footer, with a 7-3 wingspan. The Pels don't currently have a stretch C on the roster.

Melli is 6'9, I think he's a PF, not a C. If Leonard was on the Pels, him and Okafor would battle for minutes.

I don't think Miami values him much, he should be easy to aquire. That's why I suggested Leonard for Moore. Miami might view Moore as a smaller expiring to ease salary cap concerns.

nice dream

He's exactly what the team needs. The team could use a perimeter threat from the C position. He's on an expiring. Hayes wouldn't be rushed into action.

hes really good.

I have no expertise in the money or trade rules as you say "on an expiring". I take it to mean he's going to be an unrestricted free agent soon so his trade value is just whats left of season.
God bless the nba players union.

I just go by "do i want the guy".
I think hes got a future.

Whiteside for Leonard & Harkless

I don't think the length of Leonard's contact should be of concern. It shouldn't be too difficult to extend him, if he performs well this season. He should be looking for a long-term commitment. Portland viewed him as a movable expiring contract. They took on Whiteside's attitude and contract for Harkless/ Leonard expirings. Miami has Olynyk, they don't need Leonard.

Gallinari wants to win
quote:

We just acquired a European stretch 4. Let's see how he does before we decide to upgrade over him.

Gallinari would back up Ingram and Zion. He's a capable SF. He could play next to Melli (kind of like how the Bucks played Mirotic and Ilyasova together).
Moore would start in Milwaukee and fill Brogdan's void. I know, he's not as good as Brogdan; he's solid from the perimeter, decent defense, good IQ. He's a SG that is playing out of position. He would start for the Pistons or Heat. Maybe if the Pels didn't keep like 5 SG's on the team, Moore would have been able to play at his natural position. His ability to play SF in a pinch should only enhance his value.

Here's a novel idea. Don't respond to this post. Do what the fukk you do, don't instruct me bitch. Obviously the question wasn't for you. There's nothing else to talk about now. You seem real entitled to regulate subjects of threads.

Dream Deadline Trade

What is your ideal deadline trade for the Pels? Assuming the team keeps their core peices, who do you think the team could realistically aquire? What could a combination of Moore, Miller, Jackson, Okafor, Kendrich, and multiple 2nd round picks fetch?

My dream acquisition would be Gallinari. He fits a body type and skillset the team is lacking. He's on an expiring from OKC.

Another player the Pels could use is Myers Leonard, a 7-foot stretch C. Maybe the Pels could get Leonard for Moore in a salary dump or part of a 3-way trade (CP3 to Miami?).

Favors is the teams only imposing veteran. With him on the bench, Zion is the Pels only viable option at C, I only want him playing about 10 minutes a game at C.

This obviously ties in with the whole "Zion is still growing" discussion," but I'm really curious how good we'd be with a small-ball lineup out there with Zion at the 5. I also wonder, when Zion and Melli are on the floor at the same time, which of them defends the 4 and which of them defends the 5.

Remember, Zion is 19. I don't want him playing many minutes against starting C's; he should dominate backup C's. He does weigh 285.

I don't think Zion gets that many minutes this season. I'm thinking closer to 25-28.

What kind of logic supports this. Rookie season stats: Luka and Sexton averaged 32mpg, Young and Ayton 31mpg, Bridges and Knox 29mpg, Huerter 27mpg, SGA and Jaren Jackson 26mpg, Bagley and Wendell Carter 25mpg.

I dont think any of them get that many minutes. Especially Melli. Be barely averaged that where he was at, he's not going to transition THAT well. I cant see him getting more than 10. Favors was at 23mpg last year, and I know its different circumstances but I cant see him getting that big of a bump.

I've always liked Miller, but at the minimum, him and Moore share minutes, with Moore getting more minutes being the more likely outcome. I say that about Okafor out of wishful thinking.

Also, whats the word on Kenrich these days?

How the roster is constructed, Melli needs to get his minutes. He's the Pels only stretch big. If Melli is a flop, Miller, Hayes, or Kendrich will have to play quality minutes at backup-PF. I think Griffin/ Langdon brought Melli for a reason. I trust their player evaluation process. I think he's initially in the rotation.

Favors is the teams only imposing veteran. With him on the bench, Zion is the Pels only viable option at C, I only want him playing about 10 minutes a game at C. Unless you have faith in giving Okafor extended minutes or immediately playing Hayes, the Pels need Favors to play about 30 minutes a game.

Favors is a FA at the end of the year, that's one reason I expect him and Ingram to log heavy minutes. I think the Pels would want to gauge both of their abilities before deciding how much to extend them for.

How I think minutes will go:

Ball 32
Holiday 36
Ingram 32
Zion 32
Favors 30
Redick 30
Melli 15
Hart 15
Miller 10
Okafor 8

These players will get spot minutes due to injury/ foul trouble/ blowouts:

Jackson
Moore (I doubt the team risks injury for this deadline trade chip)
NAW
Hayes
2-way & Exhibit 10

According to this site, the Pels also have Jalen Adams on an Exhibit 10.
Bigby-Williams signs Exhibit 10
Keith Smith
@KeithSmithNBA
Per league sources the New Orleans Pelicans have officially signed Kavell Bigby-Williams. Bigby-Williams signed an Exhibit 10 contract.

David Griffin is the type that strikes me as a guy with a playoff push trade deadline shortlist already

Wonder who he is eyeballing if we are close?

Beal and Myles Turner probably top the list. I would also be interested in Gallinari.
