Marceaux or Henry on Saturday?

Obivously for a Super, you want to ace first always, so conventional wisdom would say Henry, but is there some consideration for Marceaux, considering Henry probably is still recovering his sharpness.

He gave you 5 innings on 85 pitches in what was his first full start since returning. Meanwhile Marceaux was pulled after 5 on 53 pitches against Stony Brook only because the game was out of hand and there was a potential to bring him back if LSU played Monday. Before that, Marceaux's last 2 starts have taken LSU into the 7th inning.

He gives you that again, hypothetically, on Saturday and you try and save the pen for Henry on the backend of Sunday?

You never ever play for tomorrow in a tournament. You pitch your best out of the gate. Fans shouldn’t overthink.

Henry. No brainer IMO.

The argument for Marceaux would be that if we waited to to pitch Henry Sunday that would give him an extra day of rest. But, since Henry threw last Saturday, I'm not sure that it's necessary to rest an extra day.

I mean does it really matter in the 2 oo 3 format? It’s pretty clear that those two guys are 1 and 2. Both are Freshmen so it’s not like experience favors one over the other.

They’re going to be the game 1 and 2 starters regardless of order.

Marceaux has been pitching like an ace the past 5 weeks.

I go with Marceaux Saturday because he pitched first in the regionals and had a lower pitch count, but IMO it doesn’t make a world of difference which order they start in.

Marceaux.

If you win, then you have Henry on the mound with a ticket to the CWS on the line.

If you lose, then you have Henry on the mound in a game to stay alive.

If he’s still on pitch count. No Henry

I honestly don't think there is a wrong answer at this point. I'm good either way.

But regardless of which one pitches first, if he loses then the 20-20 hindsighters will be out in force.

Not sure it matters - need to win both. Go to Monday and it’s somewhat advantage FSU.

Marceaux then Henry. It doesn't make much difference, but...

This keeps them on schedule. And while FSU's ace will go first, their next guy will be a lefty who is good. Both matchups could be tough, and these two LSU pitchers are fairly close.

With the way that PM has talked about Henry I think itll be Henry, Marceaux, Walker.

Henry in my mind, no question. I understand that others may feel that Marceaux is the better pitcher at this point. Either way, it's a win or go home series. You don't out think yourself or try to get cute with your pitching rotation. You pitch the best pitcher available on any game day with no regard for what you might do in a game that might not even happen. Saving a pitcher for game three is a great way to lose games 1 and 2 and get bounced.

This is playoff baseball. It is NOT the same game or thought process as regular season baseball. Losses have massive downside in postseason play and my philosophy is that you do whatever you can to avoid them entirely and if you have to play a third game, you do it with whoever's available after you left everything on the table trying to win the early games.

Oh, and he's denied this before, but I think BaseballTiger17 is #ProfessionalPosterChrisReid

We essentially have two Aces right now. LSU is fortunate.

Marceaux has been cruising. My guess is they stick with him.

Henry vs. FSU's #2 is a plus match up for LSU.
