I actually improperly labeled this thread with the bridge being built in Baton Rouge. I meant St. Gabriel.

you just got a new a-hole ripped and now you’re crawfishing.

You mean the bridge that spans the largest American river over what is the largest East-West transport/travel mode from California to Florida? The only place in America where I-10 narrows to a one-lane choke point straight out of 1960? Yeah, that would be Louisiana.

Even the I-10 Tunnel in Mobile Alabama has 2 lanes

It IS pretty odd they’d go with superdome renovation over infrastructure improvements. It’ll be much more difficult to embezzle funds from a project with a set budget compared to a bridge project that no one would bat an eye over going way over initial projections.

You do realize New Orleans isn’t moving out of the state.

This is the type of arguments idiots make.

I thought we didn’t have enough money to build a new bridge but we have enough money to renovate the Superdome.

I’m glad we have our priorities straight. Thanks legislators and cronies.

You do realize that these renovations will be finished about the same time as the (required for federal money) environmental study. Yeah, that takes 3-5 years. Then you'd have to acquire land in the anticipated footprint (which might not be settled until the environmental study is completed).

Then you need to design a suitable bridge and the required connectors to the traffic corridors and get permits from the US Coast Guard and the Army Corps of Engineers.

But hey, I trust our state to hold onto money for 5-6 years til we need to start spending it. Louisiana's government is known for fiscal brilliance.

The Superdome generates revenue for the state and building a new bridge will have to be private-public funded which is estimated to cost $1 billion. The majority of the state doesn’t give a shite about Baton Rouge traffic.

They really don’t have anything to do with one another and Superdome renevations are a drop in the bucket. If you are looking at a list of dumb shite our state wastes money on the Superdome would be near the bottom.

What's gonna really suck is that after all this renovation to the Dome happens, Gayle is still gonna come to the state the year before the lease expires and say "I want a NEW stadium!" "But Ms Benson... We spent so much money on the old one..." "I don't care. NEW!"

She just bought the Hyatt next to the Superdome so I doubt she has any plans of building a new stadium.

That piece of shite plus a mediocre team is a financial drain on this state and a cash cow for now Gayle Benson. You are a fricking moron. Globally recognized for wearing bags on their heads and choking.

It’s really said that all the trashy saints fans downvoted this

The only time the saints won anything was when the nfl rigged it after Katrina

But the economic impact will be a net positive for some people and the money for a bridge will appear.

Nah, just kidding.

Even if they did, the NFL would want a team in New Orleans market immediately.
no they wouldn't. We're too small.

We better keep the teams we got bc we're not getting new ones

Move to Baton Rouge. Problem solved.

We aren’t building a new bridge because you’re scared of having black neighbors.

JBE raises taxes $2 billion dollars. How about using that and doing both the renovation and a new bridge ? Just do it

What produces more tax revenue, a globally recognized sports and entertainment venue or a po dunk bridge to help you save 20 mins on your miserable BR commute? Small TIME ideas like this are what has held Louisiana BACK for decades. Congrats on your ignorance

So adequate infrastructure doesn't help business development?
