The renovation would be approximately $1 billion cheaper than the market cost of building a new stadium, which, officials said, has little political or public support across the state. Eighty percent of Louisiana residents had a favorable opinion of the Superdome, according to a survey conducted by the LSED in January, and 78 percent of those surveyed favored a renovation project instead of a new stadium.

“This building is iconic,” Lauscha said. “This building was built in the ’70s … I don't think we could build a building the caliber of the Superdome for $1.8 billion.”

The most dramatic feature of the work would be re-imagined entry lobbies at the corners of the stadium along Poydras Street and Champions Square.

Other features include:

Removal of the sideline pedestrian ramps leading fans to the loge, club/suite and terrace levels of the building, and replacing them with additional escalators.
New east and west sideline club lounges.
Expanded 300 level luxury box suites.
New end zone field level box suites.
Expanded plaza, loge and terrace level concourses.
New end-zone corner standing-room-only viewing decks.
Expanded team store, retail outlets and Saints Hall of Fame.
New visiting team locker room.

The sight lines in the dome are incredibly horrible in some areas. You can’t even see major portions of the end zone. That’s gotta get fixed eventually

Was hoping to see:
1) replace the ceiling tiles above field (which look like they suffered an anti aircraft gun shootout)
2) ribbon boards around entirety of club and terrace balconies
3) replace remaining multicolor seats with black or that brownish gold color of other levels
4) redo all bathrooms

I like the entrance and concourse ideas. I like chopping the space-eating internal ramps to gain room for other things.

Having trouble envisioning the standing room areas (presuming they are in Plaza level)

One of the top priorities should be replacing the sound system. It won’t be on there most likely but holy crap it sounds like stuff in there is original from when they built the place.

Can we please get an escalator that bypasses the luxury suites?

It really hurts my ego when I have to pass the OT ballers rubbing my face in their financial exuberance.

That’s not always the best option especially in the current location. It doesn’t get much better. After a couple of years the new stadium feel wears off.

Wider concourse in the terrace would be great
I hope they never tear down the Superdome. I'm all for improvements and modernization but Nola is all about mixing the old and new. Not to mention they literally couldn't put it in a better location.

This is good. I am in the 300 level end zone & I just want what all the good stuff the club level sideline has. I don't even mind having Endymion temporarily moved to the convention center again while they do renovations for this.

Location, location, location. I know we are a regional team so have to care about you, but I can’t imagine a New Orleanian being for moving the location even for the best stadium in the history of the world. I’d be fine with no changes over moving out of downtown.

A standing room only viewing deck seems like it might be the best party in the city. The bar area in the Smoothie King Center is very fun, I can only imagine what it would be like in the Dome.

Crazy thing is that the sound system was replaced not that long ago.

With all the money they’ve put into renovations they could’ve just built a new stadium

The Dome will be closed for four off seasons with a few exceptions such as Essence Festival. No mention was made of Endymion. I guess the Endymion Extravaganza will have to move to the Convention Center for a few years.
