Steak...chicken...lots of meats. Sorry nurse...looks like an amazing pup. Dogs break my heart so easily.

Already on the list. Course...he has always had more fun when he can actually swim in the water...not sit in it.

But he might still enjoy it a little bit.

Do any local dog parks have a swimming area?

Bacon, cheese, and spending as much time with him as you have available. I’d feed him everything he likes. Hamburgers, hot dogs, golden Oreos! Long as he isn’t shitting on the rug, let him enjoy what’s left of his life and share it with him. Take him for car rides if he likes them. Let him chew that shoe he always wanted to gnaw on. Just a bunch of little things.

Good luck.

So sorry Nurse
Spend as much time with him as you can doing things he enjoys
Cook him a steak, scramble some eggs or whatever else he likes that won’t upset his tummy

There is one. But it's kinda far from us and really gross. We took them a couple years ago and the water looked really nasty so we never took them back.

I have friends that have pools. Some of them are huge animal lovers so if I explained my situation I am sure one of them would help me out.

Damn, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. That day will eventually come for us, and I already dread it. We got a golden about 3 years ago and I didn’t know I could love an animal so much.

I wish I could offer you some sort of advice, but I just extend my thoughts and sympathy to you.

Thanks for the kind words posted in here. This sucks so bad, but I know it's part of being a pet owner.

My heart breaks for my husband. The only time (before today) that I've ever seen my husband near tears...was the time Payson ate a bunch of wild toxic mushrooms on a camping trip and he would have died if we didn't get him medical attention right away. He loves that dog so much.

Sorry to hear this nurse. Just walk him and enjoy the time you have left with them. Give him table scraps and whatever made him happy in the past. I have two beautiful young goldens and this thread makes me sad because the thought of the day I have to put them will suck. They meet you when you get home from work and love you unconditionally no matter what. Hope butters can hold it together for you guys

I'm sorry to here about this, Nurse. Losing a dog is easily one of the most heartbreaking things a person can go through. Whatever you decide to do with him, just know that your boy has had a good life and has loved your family for it.

Very sorry about your pup, nurse. If I were in that situation, I would have to think about putting him down sooner rather than later because I am not confident that I could figure out when his life gets bad. on the other hand, your healthcare experience probably gives you some insight needed to make that decision.

Also nurse if you have a gopro take videos of him playing and enjoying life. I found videos capture so much more than looking at pictures.

Feed him everything you have before you put him down. Cheese, a chocolate kiss, some steak, and for dessert.... ice cream.
