Wealth used to be a measure of success; something to aspire to. Now it's portrayed as evil and out of touch. Heck, even Bernie Sanders is now taking fire because he may be a millionaire. Oh the shame!

Fake morality being used as a cover for immoral Marxism.

It's cyclical, and happens when a privileged few become so wealthy that everyone else notices, it seems unattainable, and everyone is enviable. See the robber barons of the late 19th to early 20th century or the French aristocrats of the late 18th century.

Bernie doesn’t think being rich is a bad thing, as long as it’s him who is rich.

The same day it became okay to be a victim and blame others for your situation.

Have you not been paying attention lately? Having lots of money and connections basically functions as a get out of jail free card more often than it should.

That goes for both individuals and large companies. It's like you can be either too rich to fail or too big to fail in America.

When, in the history of the world, has this not been the case?

Where, on the entire friggin planet now, is this not the case?

Poor progressives hate the rich.
Then they become limousine liberals if/when they get money.

probably nowhere

I'm answering the OP's question. People with a lot of money and power are going to be (sometimes rightfully) criticized for it.

To be fair there is a significant amount of wealthy people who have simply rode the train they were born on.

The real issue in America is not wealth it's the idolatry of wealth.

When you've stripped society of all non-physical meaning (religious values) the only thing remaining is a physical existence and it's only natural people are going to tie their self worth into materialism.

Why go to bat for the ultra wealthy like this? They aren’t your friends.

It benefits to have us neatly split into two camps, one camp made up of Communist LARPers with absurd ideas that have already been proven not to work, and the other camp made up of people who think that ANY questioning of the ultra wealthy amounts to Communism.

Stop carrying their water.

They are no less my friend than you are?

They're just fellow Americans. Some good, some not

There's nothing wrong with being wealthy overall but when it gets a little ridiculous and the disparity becomes too much across-the-board, people start getting a little Restless. Is it really that hard to understand?
