Wealth used to be a measure of success; something to aspire to. Now it's portrayed as evil and out of touch. Heck, even Bernie Sanders is now taking fire because he may be a millionaire. Oh the shame!
Sanders is being targeted for not mapping to a non-existent requirement. He never said we should all be poor or have the same.
As for point one, the economy, the tax code and regulations can be evaluated by how many there are in jail.
The bottom quarter of the class of 2020 won't make it.
We do not need them.
We have automatons in factories, illegals, smart people.

If humanity is to progress beyond the stars, our focus should be great deeds, not great wealth.

Nah, if you were academically inclined you would understand it's based on solid evidence
Economics.

Economics is full of fraud and lies, they make it complex sounding on purpose, so common people can not examine it effectively.
Remember that nation early in the 20th century that defied economic orthodoxy to skyrocket past everybody else from the very bottom of the pile, only to be destroyed a few years later by a jealous world.

Ive noticed a trend with you class warfare lefties, you really hate the academics of economics

I am not a leftie, and I am not a right winger either, I am a third positionist.

A big part of the issue is that marxists are convinced that the rich take away opportunity from the poor, that it's a zero sum game
It's not.

If anything, we have a democratization of wealth. America is home to almost 16 million millionaires. 90% or so in the $1 to $5 million range.
That's 1 in 20 folks. Sure, we have the super rich (who have always been with us) and they're highly visible (ditto). The class warfare to demonize those folks has never paused since the Communist Manifesto took root with the radicals and political left in the mid 19th Century.
14.8 millionaire households and the statistics include the value of a home. nearly 1.5 million of those households are in california or new york. 1 in 20 sounds about right.
but 34 percent of the wealth in "affluent" households was in their primary residence

I despise marx, i think he was full of shite, but laissez faire capitalism leads to rule by oligarchs, we need to find another way.

I agree, what do you think of that experiment that a certain northern european nation did during the first half of the last century, I think that it was a total succes, and should be a model for all of us.

Nah.
The current system does which is a hybrid, cozy relation between govt and industry
A true free market system would have more cottage industry and less corporations, which are a government created entity.
Government "printing" money, manipulating the economy and being cozy with corporations has created disparity and allowed people to become wealthy on paper.

Are you ignoring reality? because it is quite clear that we are ruled by a few super wealthy ones.

it gets a little ridiculous and the disparity becomes too much across-the-board
How about if everyone else received the same?
Congrats! You just contributed to the great wealth disparity.
