This Woj tweet has me pumped
quote:

Organization is discussing internal candidates for interim GM job, including David Booth and Danny Ferry, sources tell ESPN. Pelicans planning to be aggressive in marketplace to hire a high-level basketball executive.

Regardless about how you feel about the AD situation or about the Saints no-call against the Rams, I believe both of those situations have galvanized fans, but more importantly Gayle & co.

And it seems like Gayle is ready to make her mark. Lets freaking go!

Actually, if you look at the conversations, smart posters say it should happen but it was never a foregone conclusion because of how management operates.

Having it become official this quickly is the surprising part. Not that it happened at all.

Shut up bro.

Crewz basically alluded to this coming down the chute very soon. And here we are. Give the dude his credit for fricks sake.

NBA source tells me:

Feeling is Alvin Gentry is doing well given circumstances and players are responding.

But next GM will have compete control regarding head coach.

As I reported two days ago, even if not HC, Alvin could remain as consultant/analyst.

Woj:

More Ownership’s plan with a new GM will be continuing to push back on Anthony Davis preferred trade destinations if they don’t make sense for Pels — especially with a full year left on his contract, per sources.

They will still try to spin it as a win, while also trying to spin that Jeannie Buss telling LeBron to frick off about Adam Walton is a good thing.

exactly. the deafening silence around Gentry & Dell's job security at the end of the '16-'17 season spoke loudly to me about where the Pelicans were on the priority list. I remember a lot of buzz that summer about whether those 2 would stay to see a full season of Boogie & AD. but just crickets.

the fact that this move comes less than 24 hours into the All-Star break gives me hope that the Pels finally have ownership that cares

To me this seems like a great opportunity for a new GM to come into.

As Woj said, this gives them a chance to be the first team out on the market to look at the best candidates out there.
