So shopping for a new truck and I’m just blown away. I know top of the line package f150/1500’s can reach up their, but what is the deal with the entry trucks like a new ranger and Colorado. The msrp on these things are almost the same as a base f150/1500. You're paying nearly as much for half the truck. A 4 cylinder durumax Colorado is 40k. I’m just lost on how expensive these “entry” trucks are. We’re talking 5-10k more and you’re getting a 2500 durumax (base) , Nissan XD, tundra, v8 f150

Just buy a 3 year old tundra and keep it for 10 years.

I want a Tacoma but with their new facelift, they aren’t seeming to be as reliable and have suspensions issues and I refuse to buy a 3-5 year old truck with 50k miles for the same price as new one off the lot. It’s crazy how high the resale value of Tacomas are.

Then buy a new one?

Blame the government for the 6000 pound tax deduction on vehicles for inflating the prices.

I drove a brand new F-150 super crew with the SXT package off the lot 2 months ago for $30,500. TTL included and no trade in. Deals are out there to be made.

honestly its because of the market. they make more money throwing away thousands of trucks a year than they would pricing them at market value. just buy something used

It is because of the extended cab.

Yeah, I've bought three new ones over the years but no more.

$50,000 buys a helluva a lot of auto parts.

I just bought a 2013 Tundra extra cab with 70,000 miles for $19K. My last Tundra went over 200,000 with nothing but oil changes, tires, and brakes.

Stop looking at brand new vehicles. I could afford a $50K tundra brand new, but why????

Colorado; You getting a smaller truck that gets the same gas mileage as the Silverado, tows and hauls less, with a smaller interior but paying the same amount. I don't get it

I need a truck to get me to and from work, get decent gas mileage, able to tow my 2,000 lb boat (not an OT baller), and haul a couple 2x4s and a sheet of plywood every so often.

got one last year for 30k (yeah I just one-upped you ), but that was with specific rebates and stuff. MSRP was like 43k. Yes deals can be had, but the fact that the truck was ever priced above 40k for what is basically a base model truck (only add one are really a center console and 2"larger screen) is absolutely absurd.

I bought a few Colorado’s for my farm workers and hardware stores.

My 2016’s were $1,000 higher on the Colorado’s. The 2018’s either the dealer gave me a better deal or the price went down.

4x2 4- door decent interior package $22,500. I also bought some 2-door with 1/2 doors for back really only store stuff back there 4-cylinder Colorado’s $21,500. They come with carpet, gm radio phone stuff, backup camera, carpet (don’t like carpet they were out of the WT vinyl package), cruise control, power windows, power locks, and upgraded rim package. I look at the gas bills and mileage avg 22 to 29. For small deliveries and just running around it the trucks a good option. What surprised me the trucks have had very few service related issues.

As far as towing my nephew bought one of my 2016’s Colorado’s I sold. I replaced my fleet with 2018’s Colorado’s with the same package as above. He tows a small aluminum tracker Pro 160 boat just fine with his truck. We took his truck and boat up to Toledo Bend and towed it pretty good.

The Ford dealer showed me the price on similar packaged Rangers and they run $28,000 with less options. I will wait until the price comes down to try a Ford Ranger.

I've got my eye on this beauty. May have to catch a flight and pick her up.

This is true. 10 years ago under the same circumstances I drove a loaded out lariat off the lot for 27K. Almost 4K more for less bells and whistles comparatively.

If the demand wasn’t there, manufacturers would not ask what they are asking. But it is and they are.

If new vehicle pricing is too expensive for you, look for a three to four year old vehicle and allow someone else to take the depreciation hit.

i agree 100%. i looked at a tacoma before i bought my f150. Why spend the same on a smaller truck that gets the same mileage?

Because sometimes people don’t need a full size truck.

I don’t regret getting a half ton, but I wish I had thought about something else before getting wrapped up in buying it. I certainly don’t need a truck.

Plus resale seems to be a little better on mid size trucks. Especially Tacoma’s.
