Are "certified pre-owned" an option? These are usually lease returns with low mileage and have some sort of manufacturer warranty. You won't take as massive of a depreciation hit here.

For me, I prefer a smaller truck like Tacoma instead of a big arse Tundra. I dont consider it entry level - it's just not full size. They're much easier to drive around town, park, fit in my garage....

Chevy 2500 durumax towing capacity is 15400 lbs compared to the Colorado durumax at 7700 lbs. the Colorado has no means to handle a goose neck trailer and would struggle doing general towing due to its small frame size.The 2500 can easily tow 20k+ with trailer breaks and a goose neck. The msrp for the durumax Colorado is 40k, while the durumax 2500 WT is 37k and the LT being 42k. If I wanted luxury I wouldn’t be shopping for a truck, I want a truck to do truck things and the fact that Chevy is selling 1/3 of the truck compared to there 2500 diesel is just ridiculous.

I pulled the 13k and 7 k straight from Chevys website, gas vs diesel, crew cab, standard conventional towing

A base crew cab duramax 2wd is 47k, a base Colorado with the diesel is 37k and starts off at a higher trim level. Your numbers are off or not comparing apples to apples

I rarely actually NEED a truck. I would never spend anywhere close to the MSRP for a full or mid sized truck for how often I would actually need it.

That's because they mark it up by 15K or so from what they want to sell it for. If you pay what they discount without negotiation, they are making their desired amount.
I'm always surprised people say "I got 10K off", well yeah, they would have taken 15K or more off if you had asked.

The duramax deisel is the high end Colorado engine. You can get the double cab with a V6 for well under 30k

New crew cab with almost all of that for $25k
Factoring in inflation, this truck is cheaper than the one you bought, and it;'s more powerful, safer, more efficient, etc.
These threads always only focus on the most expensive versions of these trucks. When comparing apples to apples, and factoring for inflation, trucks today are just as cheap or cheaper than their old counterparts.
