Haven't shot one with a rifle in long enough that I don't know a distance.
Longest with a bow was also my first - 38yards with a POS Bear RTS package bow. Thought I was a legit Fred Bear on that one.

Prairie dogs out to 350 with a 204 ruger and 22 250. 325 on a doe with a 7 mag.
My 14 year old shot a 8 point this year at 220 yards with my 270.. all my rifles are sighted in at 200 yards..

Only kilt three deer and none very far but i did kill a pronghorn running at 100 yds with a 7600 30-06. Ran out of 7 wby mag shells and dad ran my gun to me. That wrapped up our goat hunt in NM.

I was 14 and using the gun my dad bought me when I was 10 because we were too poor to upgrade beyond the puny .243.
The deer I killed with it didn't seem to be able to tell any difference.

Texas heart shot on a buck @ 290 yards 30.06. Running dogs in the marsh, he was running down a lane. Busted guts. Rankest damn meat I ever ate.

Between 500 and 600 yards. Deer was being run by dogs toward me in about 12 inches of water down a pipeline. Jelly rolled it on 3rd shot from Remington 30-06. First 2 misses my father was standing beside me telling me where the bullet was hitting the water and I kept adjusting. I was about 16 taking rest on hood of truck.

Used to be you started with a 30-30 at about 12-13 then upgraded to a 30-06 or 270 when you got in high school. Now everybody wants to shoot a 6.85mm Super Ultra Short Winchester Weatherby Magnum.

First was a 06 then several with a borrowed 30-30 then I got my own 270. Farthest was 283 yards 270. Stepped off with the longest steps I could make cus that was before everyone had a rangefinder and we had people who would love to go walk it out an give you a hard time if it would have really been 225 yards lol

Fallow doe at 280 yards with a .270. Hit her in the spine and she dropped dead.
