Do you talk to recruiters if you are happy?

If you like your current job do you bother with recruiters?
Usually I tell them I am in a good spot. Just curious how others handle it. I will be at my job 9 years just feels like I should be making moves

Always...always talk to recruiters. It never hurts anything to entertain what they have to pitch. If you are happy, say that it doesn’t sound like what you are looking for at the moment, but please keep calling if anything that they think you may be qualified fir comes up. Always work on your network. You never know when your situation may change.

You should always be willing to listen, as you never know what someone else may offer, or if your company is going to let you go tomorrow.

Nah, usually upon sight they leave me alone. The first thing to consider are the potential members.. Cults do not want mentally ill people, drug addicts, troublemakers etc.
They want intelligent, articulate, healthy workers who can get stuff done. Some groups want young people, some groups want families and other groups target the elderly - 'the gold is with the old'.

I don't give head hunters the time of day. If a company contacts me directly I will give them the respect. I will be up front about not wanting to leave but they will get my time.

I’ve been with my company 17 years and have never talked with a recruiter. I always respond and tell them I’m happy with my current job. Money isn’t everything and 5 weeks PTO is worth a lot to me to stay where I’m at.

I worked for a company 21 years and was happy.Made good money I thought . They lost a contract and the new company had a recruiter call every other week and I finally talked to them . I should have done it 10 years ago . The pay and benefits are way better

Always. Life is practice. Either you doing well or trying to learn. Regardless, there is a chance to do better.

You realize a lot of big companies use RPO firms that brand themselves as internal recruiters? Half the time you may be talking to a 3rd party anyways. No sense in blowing off headhunters.

I left previous employer of 9 years about 11 months ago. My situation is a little different in that I wasn’t happy.
It’s amazing how far you can fall below market without occasional market adjustment...in my case 30%.
I valued loyalty and took a lot of pride in the fact I worked there for so long. I’m being paid significantly more at new employer with a raise on top of the above mentioned increase. I’m valued more as an employee because I’ve been a very successful direct hire manager. This has been a win-win from any way you look at it for me.
TLDR - yes talk to them

Always take the meeting/phone call, email, etc.
You never know what someone will offer you. I am happy in my job, but I took an interview at what I thought was a terrible place to work. They offered me more money and fewer work hours. I may not go, but it was worth it for bargaining sake.

Even when I'm happy at my job I try to make it a point to job shop every 6 months. I challenge myself to send out 3 applications every 6 months and always talk to recruiters. I've turned down a bunch of offers but I always want to keep an open mind and at least somewhat kind of know what's out there.

I’ve been at my current job for 10.5 years. I usually blow off recruiters, but received a call last week that was in line with my career development plans. It would have been a great position, but the cap on pay turned out to be a killer ( ~15% paycut).
I figure:
1. Now I know my compensation (and benefits) are up to par
2. The interview process helped to re-sharpen my skills
3. Told the recruiter “thank you for your time, and please keep me in mind for future opportunities”

If they’re calling about a legit SPECIFIC opening that I would be a fit for; yes.
But if they’re calling to obviously get me as a ‘candidate for potential openings’, I’m pretty quick to cut them off.

Was happy at a previous job some years back and then got caught up in a RIF. From that point forward, I’ll always listen to what someone has to say. The older (and closer to retirement) that I get, the more of a mercenary mentality I develop. Usually salary, PTO and peripherals can be negotiated. However, I can understand the long term employee’s happiness and satisfaction in a certain position. If I had never been involved in an RIF, I would probably still be at that previous company today.
